EDD form submission blocked until after pay date - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. They've asked for more info to see if I'm recovered and ready to work, plus details on any wages. But here's the kicker - when I try to submit the form, it says I can't until November 9th. That's AFTER my pay date! Anyone else run into this? What should I do?

I found a way to solve unemployment form submission delay, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhMBYBwoGBE

Ugh, classic bureaucratic nonsense. I swear they design these systems to be as frustrating as possible. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes you can get around these online roadblocks by talking to a real person.

I haven't tried calling yet. Honestly, I'm dreading the hold times. But you're right, it might be the only way to get this sorted out before the deadline.

Good luck with that! Last time I called, I was on hold for 3 hours and then got disconnected. 🤡 The system is a joke.

Oof, that sucks. Maybe try calling right when they open? I've had better luck that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Have you actually used it? Is it legit?

Yep, I've used it twice now. Saved me hours of frustration. It's legit, just costs a bit.

Idk man, paying to talk to a government agency feels wrong. Shouldn't this be free?

I get that, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day on hold.

This happened to me last year! Here's what I did: 1. Screenshot the error message 2. Email their support with the screenshot and explain the situation 3. Keep trying to submit daily (sometimes the system glitches and lets you in early) 4. If all else fails, submit as soon as it lets you and include a note explaining the delay Hope this helps! The system is a mess, but hang in there.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try emailing them with a screenshot. Fingers crossed 🤞

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a paper trail of EVERYTHING. You never know when you'll need to prove you tried to comply on time.

I'm in the same boat, friend. It's so frustrating when the system itself prevents us from complying with their rules. I've been dealing with EDD issues for months now, and it feels like swimming upstream. Hang in there!

Thanks for the solidarity. How have you been coping with all this? Any tips for staying sane through the process?

Honestly? Lots of deep breaths and venting to friends. Oh, and chocolate. Lots of chocolate. 🍫

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that Nov 9 is actually after your pay date? Sometimes these things can be confusing. If it is though, that's messed up and you should definitely call them ASAP.

Yeah, I triple-checked actually. My pay date is the 5th, so Nov 9 is definitely too late. 😩

Ah, gotcha. That really sucks then. Definitely time to get on the phone with them!

Pro tip: if you're gonna call them, do it on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Mondays are usually swamped, and later in the week people are trying to get stuff sorted before the weekend. Mid-week morning has always worked best for me. Good luck!

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's not just you - these issues are systemic and affect thousands of people. We should be writing to our representatives about this!

Totally agree. Anyone know if there are any petitions going around about this? I'd sign in a heartbeat.

Hey, former EDD employee here. This sounds like a known glitch in the system. Unfortunately, the only real solution is to call in. When you do, ask them to submit an IT ticket about the issue. The more tickets they get, the more likely they are to actually fix it. Sorry you're dealing with this!

Wow, thanks for the insider info! I'll definitely mention the IT ticket when I call. Any other tips from your time there?

Always be polite to the person on the phone - they deal with angry people all day and are more likely to go the extra mile if you're nice. And keep detailed notes of every interaction, including the rep's name and ID number if possible.
