EDD SDI payment schedule changed after manual payment - Tuesday vs Wednesday?
So I'm confused about my SDI payment schedule after a recent issue. Two weeks ago, there was a problem with my disability claim and an EDD rep had to manually process my payment for two weeks plus one day (I was a day late getting paid). Now this week, I didn't see the usual qualification notification in my account at the normal time. Does this mean my payment schedule has permanently shifted from Tuesdays to Wednesdays now? Has this happened to anyone else after a manual payment? I'm trying to budget and plan bill payments, so knowing which day to expect my disability benefits would really help.

•Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. So did it stay consistent on Tuesdays after that? Or did it bounce around?

When EDD processes a manual payment, it often resets your regular payment cycle. The system typically runs payments in batches on specific days, and a manual intervention can place you in a different batch than you were originally in. It's normal for your regular payment day to shift after such an intervention. Your new payment day (Wednesday in your case) should remain consistent for the remainder of your claim period unless there's another manual intervention. The notification typically appears the day before the payment is issued.

•This doesn't make ANY sense!!! EDD should keep people on the SAME schedule they started with. How are we supposed to pay our bills when they keep changing the dates??? I had THREE different payment days during my disability claim last year. THREE!!! The system is broken.

Hey there! I had major trouble getting through to EDD about a similar payment schedule issue. After trying for days, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. They confirmed my payment had been rescheduled to a different weekday after the manual adjustment and would stay on that day going forward. Saved me so much time and stress! There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd

•Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to call them all morning with no luck. I'll check out that service if I can't get through by tomorrow.

•No, it doesn't mean an extra day of payment. It just means the payment processing date has shifted. The payment still covers the same certification period (usually two weeks), but the day of the week when the payment is processed has changed. The amount should be the same as before.

This is completely normal after a manual payment adjustment. I worked as an EDD specialist for 5 years, and the payment schedule shifting is expected after manual interventions. The payment batches run on different days of the week, and manual processing often puts you into a different batch. The good news is that your new payment day (Wednesday) should remain consistent for the rest of your claim unless another manual adjustment happens. If you certified on Sunday as usual, you should expect payments on Wednesday going forward. The notification usually appears in your account the day before payment is issued. If you don't see your payment by Thursday, then you should contact EDD as there might be another issue.

•Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! That makes perfect sense. I'll plan for Wednesday payments from now on then. Really appreciate your expertise!

I'm going through the exact same thing but with PFL! My first few payments came on Mondays, then they had to fix something and now they come on Thursdays?! It's so frustrating when you're trying to pay bills on time. I wonder if this is just how the system works or if there's actually something wrong with our claims...

•PFL and SDI use the same payment system, so yes, this happens with both benefit types. There's nothing wrong with your claim - it's just how their batch processing works. Once you know your new payment day, you can plan around it. The amount and frequency of payments remain the same.

My brother's disability payments changed days after they fixed something on his claim too! The EDD system is so confusing sometimes. Did you ever figure out if the Wednesday thing is permanent?

•Based on what everyone is saying, it looks like Wednesday will be my new permanent payment day (unless they have to manually fix something again). Just have to adjust my bill payment schedule accordingly!

This exact same thing happened to me earlier this year! I was getting my SDI payments on Fridays, then after EDD had to manually process a missed payment, my schedule permanently shifted to Mondays. It's been consistent on Mondays ever since (about 6 months now). The rep I eventually got through to explained that when they do manual processing, it basically puts you in a different payment batch cycle. It's annoying for budgeting at first, but once you know your new day, it stays reliable. Sounds like Wednesday is going to be your new regular payment day going forward.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really helpful to hear that yours has been consistent on Mondays for 6 months after the change. That gives me confidence that Wednesday will be my new regular day. I was worried it might keep bouncing around, but it sounds like once the system puts you in a new batch, you stay there. I'll update my budget and bill payment schedule accordingly. Really appreciate everyone's input on this!

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now! My SDI payments were coming on Thursdays for the first month, then EDD had to do some kind of manual correction on my claim and now I haven't received anything for over a week. I'm not sure if my payment day shifted or if there's still an issue with my claim. Did you get any kind of notification when your payment day officially changed, or did you just have to figure it out by waiting to see when the next payment came through? I'm trying to decide if I should call them or just wait a bit longer to see if it shows up on a different day.

•Hey Connor! I didn't get any official notification about the payment day change - I just had to figure it out by watching when my next payment came through. Since you were on Thursdays and it's been over a week since your manual correction, I'd definitely call EDD to check on the status. Sometimes manual corrections can take longer to process, but a week seems like a long time. In my case, my first payment on the new schedule (Wednesday) came about 3-4 days after my normal Tuesday would have been. If you can't get through by phone, some people here mentioned using Claimyr to get connected faster. Hope this helps!

I'm in the same boat right now! My SDI payments were always on Tuesdays for the first 3 weeks, then last week EDD had to manually fix something with my certification and now I'm not sure what day to expect my payment. It's so stressful when you're trying to manage bills and expenses while on disability. Based on what everyone's saying here, it sounds like the payment day shift is permanent after manual processing, which is frustrating but at least predictable once you figure out your new day. I'm going to wait until tomorrow (Thursday) to see if my payment comes through, and if not I'll try calling EDD or maybe that Claimyr service someone mentioned. Thanks for posting this question - it's really reassuring to know this is a common issue and not something wrong with just my claim!

•I totally understand the stress - being on disability is hard enough without having to worry about when payments will show up! From everything I've read in this thread, it sounds like once EDD does manual processing, your payment day permanently shifts to whatever batch they put you in. The good news is that most people here say it becomes consistent on the new day. Since your original day was Tuesday and you had manual processing last week, I'd expect your new payment day might be Wednesday or Thursday. Definitely give it until Thursday like you planned, and if nothing shows up, calling EDD (or using that Claimyr service) seems like the way to go. Hang in there - once you figure out your new payment day, at least you can plan around it!

This is really helpful information! I'm currently on SDI and have been lucky not to have any payment issues so far, but it's good to know what to expect if EDD ever has to manually process something. The fact that the payment day shift seems to be permanent but consistent is actually reassuring - at least you can plan around it once you know your new schedule. It sounds like Wednesday is going to be your reliable payment day going forward based on everyone's experiences here. Thanks for asking this question because I'm sure a lot of people deal with this confusion after manual payments!

•Exactly! I'm so glad I asked because I was really worried something was wrong with my claim. It's definitely reassuring to know this is just how their system works after manual processing. I feel much better about planning my budget around Wednesday payments now that I know it should be consistent. Hopefully this thread helps other people who run into the same situation - it seems like it's pretty common but EDD doesn't really explain it when they do the manual fixes.

I went through this exact same situation about 4 months ago! My SDI payments were coming on Wednesdays, then EDD had to manually process a payment due to a certification issue, and suddenly my payments shifted to Fridays permanently. At first I was really confused and stressed about it, but after reading through EDD's website and talking to a rep, I learned that this is just how their batch processing system works. When they do manual interventions, it can move your claim into a different payment batch cycle. The good news is that once you're in the new cycle, it stays consistent - I've been getting my payments every Friday like clockwork since then. So yes, it sounds like Wednesday is going to be your new permanent payment day! It's annoying for budgeting at first, but once you adjust your bill payment schedule, it becomes just as reliable as your old Tuesday schedule was.
