EDD SDI Pregnancy Claim Delay - Pregnancy Outside USA, No Updates After Processing Text

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my pregnancy disability claim and could use some advice. I filed a while back and got a text saying it's being processed, but I haven't heard anything since. The tricky part is my pregnancy happened outside the USA. I've already sent in all the necessary docs and medical records. Anyone been through something similar or have tips on how to get an update? I'm starting to get worried about the delay.

Hang in there, OP! Remember, this too shall pass. Focus on taking care of yourself and your baby. The rest will sort itself out eventually. Sending you strength and patience! 💪🤰

Plot twist: what if the EDD is actually run by a bunch of sloths? Would explain a lot 🦥😂

LOL this made me laugh. Thanks for the comic relief! 🤣

Hey now, don't insult sloths like that. They're way more efficient!

Sloths get things done, eventually. Maybe there's hope for the EDD yet!

Sending positive vibes your way, OP! Pregnancy is stressful enough without having to deal with this nonsense. Hope you get it sorted soon! ❤️

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds like we're back in the stone age, but sometimes old school methods work best with these dinosaur agencies lol

0 coins

-

Gavin King

Haha, true! Sometimes a good ol' fax is quicker than trying to get a human on the phone.

I heard theres a new AI chatbot on the EDD website. Maybe try that? Cant be worse than trying to reach a human lol

Lmao watch the AI be more helpful than the actual employees 💀

Worth a shot at this point! I'll try anything 😅

Hey OP, just wanted to say you're not alone. I'm currently 7 months pregnant and STILL waiting on my claim to be processed. This system is a joke.

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too! It's so stressful. Sending you good vibes!

It helps to know we're not alone, but wow, it's so disheartening how long these things take.

Have you tried tweeting at the EDD? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

Social media can really light a fire under them. Worth a try!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

0 coins

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

I've heard of Claimyr before. It seems like people have mixed experiences, but definitely worth a shot if you're really stuck.

Ugh, the EDD is such a nightmare to deal with. I swear they make everything 10x more complicated than it needs to be. Have you tried calling them directly? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

0 coins

-

Katherine Harris

I agree, it's like they purposely make it confusing. Don't give up, though! Keep calling.

It might help to ask for a supervisor right away, sometimes they can expedite the process.

pro tip: if you do manage to get someone on the phone, ask for a direct number or extension. Sometimes they'll give it to you and it can save you a ton of time in the future.

This is so true! Having a direct line can save you hours of frustration.

I'm curious, how does the pregnancy being outside the USA affect the claim? Anyone know if there are different rules for that?

0 coins

-

Layla Sanders

As far as I know, it shouldn't matter where the pregnancy occurred as long as you're eligible for CA disability. But the EDD might need extra verification or something.

0 coins

-

7M

Morgan Washington

Idk about the rules, but I bet it makes the paperwork more complicated. Bureaucracy, am I right? 🙄

0 coins

-

7M

Ryan Young

That's what I'm worried about. I provided all the docs they asked for, but who knows if they need something else they haven't told me about yet.

It's possible that there are additional verifications necessary for out-of-country claims. It might be worth confirming if any extra steps are needed.

Here's what you need to do to get your claim moving: 1. Gather all your documents: - Claim number - Medical records (translated if necessary) - Proof of pregnancy from outside the USA - Any correspondence from EDD 2. Prepare a clear, concise statement: - Explain your situation briefly - Mention the text you received - State that your pregnancy occurred outside the USA 3. Contact EDD: - Try calling early in the morning - Use the online portal to send a message - Consider using a calling service if you can't get through 4. Follow up regularly: - Set reminders to check your claim status weekly - Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them 5. Know your rights: - Research California's pregnancy disability laws - Don't be afraid to escalate if you're not getting answers Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up!

While using Claimyr might seem like a good option due to the hassle of reaching EDD, it's important for people to remember that it's not a guaranteed solution. It's definitely gotten mixed reviews. Some people have found it to be a lifesaver, while others thought it was not worth the money. It all depends on how desperate you are to get a human on the phone. But remember, OP, being persistent with EDD through all available channels and documenting every interaction is a must to protect yourself. Keeping up with the official channels, even if it's frustrating, is important because it can show you tried all official means if you need to escalate the issue. Good luck!

Oof, dealing with EDD is like pulling teeth. I feel for you, OP. Hang in there!

Anyone else feel like we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment/disability system? It's 2023 for crying out loud, why is this still so difficult?

0 coins

-

Alice Coleman

Preach! 🙌 The whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point.

0 coins

-

7M

Owen Jenkins

For real. My grandma could design a better system, and she still uses a flip phone.

0 coins

-

7M

Lilah Brooks

It's because they don't want to make it easy. The harder it is, the less people will follow through. It's by design, I'm telling you.

We can do better. It's time for a serious upgrade in how disability claims are handled!

I've been in the same boat, but with regular unemployment. It took FOREVER to get any updates. My advice? Keep calling, and document everything. Good luck!

0 coins

-

Justin Evans

Documenting everything is key! It helps to have a detailed record if they question anything later.

0 coins

-

7M

Yara Campbell

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should privatize the whole system. Government clearly can't handle it.

0 coins

-

Isaac Wright

Yeah, because private companies are soooo much better at handling things fairly 🙄

0 coins

-

7M

Maya Diaz

Nah, we just need better funding and updated technology. Privatizing would just make it worse for most people.

0 coins

-

7M

Tami Morgan

How about we try fixing the system we have before throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

0 coins

-

7M

Rami Samuels

Privatization could lead to more inequality. Let's aim for improvements instead.

Thanks for the responses! I've tried calling, but it's impossible to get through. I'm starting to feel like I'm just shouting into the void here. 😫

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

0 coins

Yeah, I've tried that too. No luck so far. It's like trying to win the lottery or something.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there. Just a thought!

Maybe try reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

0 coins

-

Ryan Young

That's a great idea! I hadn't even thought of that. Do you know how I'd go about contacting them?

0 coins

-

7M

Lucas Turner

Just google your area + state representative. They usually have a "contact us" page on their website. Good luck!

It might take a bit of research, but they can be surprisingly helpful in expediting claims.
