CalFresh Emergency Allotment delay - approved but not received after March 27 payment date

Has anyone experienced a delay with the recent emergency food supplement that was supposed to be issued on March 27th? I check my EBT balance religiously and noticed I didn't get the emergency allotment when everyone else seemed to. Called the county office yesterday and after waiting forever, the representative said 'the worker would process it' but my account still shows nothing. Should I be worried? How long do these manual processes usually take? My regular benefits are barely covering our needs and I was really counting on this supplement.

same thing happened 2 me last month! took them almost 2 weeks after the issue date to add it to my card. the worker told me somthing about a 'batch error' whatever that means lol. but it did come eventually

Thank you! That gives me some hope. Did you have to keep calling them or did it just show up eventually?

The March emergency supplements are definitely still being issued in batches - I've seen this happen several times since 2025 started. The county workers are dealing with a TON of these manual fixes right now because of the new system update they did in January. One thing I found helpful when I had this same problem was using Claimyr to connect directly to a benefits worker (claimyr.com) - it saved me hours of waiting on hold and they were able to tell me exactly when my supplement would post. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Definitely less stressful than waiting on hold for hours!

is this that service where u pay to get through? seems weird to PAY to access benefits ur already entitled to...but then again ive wasted entire days on hold so maybe worth it

From what I understand, this issue is happening because of two things: 1) The March emergency allotment is being distributed in multiple phases rather than all at once, and 2) There were some processing errors affecting about 15% of recipients according to my county worker. \n\nIf you've already spoken to someone and they said it would be processed, you should see it within 3-5 business days. If nothing appears by then, call again and specifically request a \

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! My SAR7 is definitely up to date (submitted last month and got confirmation). I'll wait until Monday and then call again asking specifically for that verification you mentioned if nothing shows up. I really appreciate knowing the specific terminology to use.

THEY ARE ALWAYS DOING THIS!! I swear they DELIBERATELY hold back our emergency supplements hoping we wont notice!! I've had FOUR different months where they \

I understand your frustration, but I wanted to clarify that the emergency supplement amounts can legitimately vary month to month. They're calculated based on the difference between your regular benefit and the maximum allotment for your household size, which can change if either of those amounts adjusts. If you received different amounts, it might mean your base benefit changed slightly due to reported income changes or other factors. The delays are definitely frustrating though!

im confused, i thought emergency supplements ended back in 2023 after the public health emergency? are these something different? i havent been getting any extra besides my normal amount since then...

You're thinking of the COVID emergency allotments which did end in early 2023. What OP is referring to is likely the California state-funded nutrition supplement program that started in January 2025 for households below 150% of the federal poverty level. It's similar to the old COVID supplements but with different eligibility requirements and typically smaller amounts. Not everyone qualifies - you should check with your county office to see if you're eligible.

just jumping in to say i got mine late too this month and ended up having to go to the office in person to get it fixed because the phone system kept disconnecting me after 2+ hours on hold 😡 eventually got it added to my card but had to miss work to do it

That's awful you had to miss work! I don't have a car right now so going in person would be really difficult. Did they say why it was delayed?

This is actually a known issue with the March 2025 emergency supplements. The system was supposed to issue them automatically on the 27th, but there was a processing error affecting accounts in certain case number ranges. When this happens, workers have to manually issue the supplements, which unfortunately takes time.\n\nIf the representative told you it would be processed, it should appear within 3-5 business days. If you don't see it by then, call back and request to speak with a benefits supervisor. Make sure to have your case number ready and specifically mention the \

Thank you so much for this detailed information! I had no idea about the case number ranges being affected - that makes a lot of sense. I'll give it until Tuesday (which would be 5 business days) and then follow your advice if I still don't see anything. Really appreciate knowing about the expedited emergency benefits too, though hopefully it won't come to that.
