StudentAid.gov website not showing FAFSA award amounts - stuck on loading screen
Is anyone else having trouble viewing their FAFSA award information? I've been trying for 3 days straight to check my aid package on StudentAid.gov but the application summary page just spins forever and never loads. I need to see how much I qualified for because my college orientation is next week and I need to make some serious financial decisions! I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, even Edge) and even my phone but nothing works. The rest of the website loads fine, just not the actual award information. Super frustrating! Anyone know what's going on or how to fix this?

•How long has it been happening for you? I'm wondering if it's a temporary glitch or something bigger.

I had this EXACT problem last week! The spinning circle that never ends, right? I cleared my cache and cookies, and it started working again. Try that first before you panic.

•Thanks! Just tried clearing cache and cookies but still having the same issue. Did you have to do anything else to get it working?

Mine was doing that too but only on Chrome. Try using Microsoft Edge or Safari if you have a Mac. For some reason the site hates certain browsers. Also check if you have any ad blockers or privacy extensions enabled - those can mess with government sites.

•I've actually tried multiple browsers already including Edge. Ad blockers are a good point though - I'll disable those and try again!

This is a known issue with the latest StudentAid.gov update. They've been migrating to a new system for displaying SAI (Student Aid Index) and award information. According to the FSA Twitter account, they're aware of the problem and working on it. In the meantime, you can request your award information directly from your school's financial aid office - they have access to all the same information through a separate system. If you need it urgently for orientation, I'd recommend calling your school directly.

•Thank you! That's really helpful. I'll reach out to my school's financial aid office tomorrow. Do you know if there's an estimated timeline for when the website will be fixed?

•They haven't provided a specific timeline, but based on past technical issues, these problems typically get resolved within 5-7 business days. The migration to the new SAI system (replacing the old EFC calculation) has created several technical challenges across the platform.

I work at a university financial aid office, and we've been getting TONS of calls about this exact issue. The problem started about 4 days ago and is affecting many students. As mentioned above, your school can see all your FAFSA information including your SAI, Pell Grant eligibility, and other federal aid options. If you're having trouble reaching your financial aid office (many are swamped with calls right now), you might want to try using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that helps you get through to representatives faster. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ You can also try calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center directly at 1-800-433-3243, but wait times have been 2+ hours this week.

•Thank you so much for the inside information! I didn't even think about contacting the Federal Student Aid Center directly. I'll check out that Claimyr service if I can't get through to my school tomorrow.

DONT WASTE UR TIME with the website!! I spent 5 DAYS trying to make it work before giving up!!! The whole system is broken after they switched to that new SAI formula replacing the EFC. My cousin works in financial aid and said its a DISASTER behind the scenes with the new calculations. Just call your school directly!!!

•The new SAI system is actually better than the old EFC once it's working properly. It's supposed to give more aid to low-income students. But yeah the rollout has been a complete mess lol

I had a similar issue last month and discovered it was because my application was selected for verification. When that happens, sometimes the award information doesn't display properly until the verification is complete. You might want to check if you received any verification notices in your email or student aid inbox. The verification process can take 3-4 weeks to complete, and they won't finalize your aid package until it's done.

•That's a really good point! I just checked and I don't see any verification notices, but I'll double-check my spam folder too just in case.

Update on my earlier comment - I just tried again today and the site is STILL having issues, so clearing cache didn't actually fix it permanently. Sorry for the confusion! But I was able to get my award info by downloading the myStudentAid mobile app instead. For some reason the app is working even though the website isn't. Might be worth trying!

•Thank you for the update! I'll definitely try the mobile app. Didn't even think of that option!

Just got an official update from FSA - they've acknowledged the issue and expect to have it resolved by next Tuesday. In the meantime, they recommend either using the mobile app as mentioned above or contacting your school directly. They also said that downloading your FAFSA confirmation page (if you still have access to it) will show your SAI score, which gives you a general idea of your aid eligibility.

•Thank you for the update! Tuesday isn't ideal since my orientation is Monday, but at least they're working on it. I'll try the app and contact my school tomorrow.

I'm having the exact same issue! Been trying to access my award information for the past two days and getting nowhere. It's so stressful when you're trying to make financial decisions for college. Thanks everyone for the suggestions - I'm going to try the mobile app right now and also reach out to my school's financial aid office first thing tomorrow morning. Really appreciate all the helpful advice in this thread!

•I'm dealing with the exact same problem! It's so frustrating when you're trying to plan for college and can't access basic information. I'm definitely going to try the mobile app suggestion too - seems like several people have had better luck with that. Hope your financial aid office is more responsive than mine has been! Keep us posted if the app works for you.
