Never received FAFSA parent email link - deadline tomorrow!

I'm about to lose my mind over this FAFSA process! My daughter completed her portion of the 2025-2026 FAFSA application yesterday and entered both my email and her father's email so we could complete our contributor information. It's been over 24 hours and NEITHER of us has received the email invitation - not in our inboxes, spam folders, or anywhere! The financial aid deadline at her top choice school is TOMORROW and we're completely stuck. I've tried calling the Federal Student Aid number 6 times today but keep getting disconnected. Has anyone else had this problem with the parent invitation emails not sending? Is there a workaround? I really don't want her to miss out on potential aid because of a stupid technical glitch!

Omg same thing happened to us last month!! The emails NEVER came through. Turns out my daughter entered my email slightly wrong (added an extra letter). Have her log back in and double-check both email addresses. If they're correct, she needs to go to the Contributors section and click 'Resend Invitation' for both parents. Sometimes it takes a few tries.

Thanks, I'll have her check that right now. The thing is she swears she triple-checked our emails before submitting. Is there any way I can just create my own FAFSA account and connect to her application without waiting for this mysterious email?

Wow that's awful! I think they updated the FAFSA system this year and clearly didn't test it properly. These government systems are always a mess.

I'm a financial aid counselor at a community college. This is unfortunately a common issue with the new FAFSA system. Here are a few things to try: 1. Have your daughter log in and verify both parent emails are entered correctly 2. Click the "Resend Invitation" option for both contributors 3. Check if there's an option to complete the parent portion while sitting with your daughter (some students can do this) 4. If her school's deadline is tomorrow, have her contact the financial aid office IMMEDIATELY - most schools will grant extensions for documented FAFSA technical issues 5. As a last resort, try creating a new FAFSA application entirely, but only if you have time to complete it before the deadline The system should not take more than 1-2 hours to send contributor invitations, so something is definitely wrong here.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! We tried the resend option about an hour ago and still nothing. I'll have her call the financial aid office first thing in the morning to explain the situation. It's so frustrating that something as important as college funding depends on a system that's this unreliable!

I had success using Claimyr when I was stuck with a similar FAFSA parent email issue. It lets you skip the phone queue and get a callback from a Federal Student Aid agent usually within 15-30 minutes. I was shocked it actually worked - the agent was able to manually reset the system to send the emails again. Website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ With your deadline tomorrow, might be worth trying since you've already been disconnected multiple times.

I've never heard of this service before. Has anyone else used it? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point, but a bit hesitant about third-party services.

I used it last semester when I was having issues with my verification process. It does work - basically puts you in line for a callback instead of waiting on hold forever. The FSA agent I spoke with was able to fix my issue in about 10 minutes once I got through.

the whole new FAFSA system is a DISASTER!! My son's application has been "processing" for OVER A MONTH with no SAI score calculation! we've had nothing but problems since day 1. first the site kept crashing, then his dad never got the email, then when we finally submitted everything they flagged us for verification... and now radio silence for weeks! I HATE THIS!!!

That's terrible 😞 Sorry you're going through that. Did you ever get the parent email issue resolved?

eventually his dad got the email after like 4 days for some reason but by then we were already behind on everything... the whole system is designed to make ppl give up i swear

Update: If you're still having this issue, there's an emergency workaround that was just implemented. Have your daughter call the FSA hotline at 1-800-433-3243 and request a "Contributor Access Code" for both parents. They can generate these codes that bypass the email system entirely. The student will need to provide: 1. Her FSA ID username 2. The full name of each parent/contributor 3. The emails that were originally entered Once she gets the access codes, she can send them to you directly and you can use them on the contributor portal without needing the email invitation. This is a temporary solution they've implemented because so many families are having this exact problem with the new system.

UPDATE: We got it fixed! After trying everything, what finally worked was having my daughter use her laptop instead of her phone to resend the invitations. For some reason, the mobile version wasn't properly triggering the emails. We both received the contributor invitations within minutes after she used her laptop. We've completed our portions and submitted everything before the deadline! For anyone else having this issue - try using a computer rather than a mobile device, and make sure your daughter logs completely out and back in before resending the invitations. Thanks to everyone who offered advice!

So glad you got it working! That's such a weird glitch with the mobile version. I'm going to tell my nephew about this since he's doing his FAFSA next week.

Great news! I'm going to share this mobile device issue with our financial aid office. We haven't identified this specific problem yet, but it makes sense given the complaints we've been hearing. Thank you for updating the thread!
