FAFSA submission confirmed but still getting 'section not submitted' emails - what's going on?
I'm so frustrated with the new FAFSA system! My daughter and I both completed our sections of the 2024-25 FAFSA two weeks ago. We received the confirmation page showing both sections were submitted successfully (with the green checkmarks) and even took screenshots. But we're STILL getting these automated emails saying "Your information was provided on a 2024-25 FAFSA form, but your section hasn't been submitted yet. Complete your section of the form now..." When we log in, it shows as submitted with confirmation numbers for both sections. Has anyone else experienced this email glitch? Should we be worried our application isn't actually being processed? I don't want to miss any deadlines because of a system error!

This exact thing happened to me! I submitted my FAFSA the first week of January (both parent and student sections complete), got the confirmation page with the SAI calculation and everything. But I've gotten that same email THREE TIMES now telling me my section isn't submitted. I called Federal Student Aid and after waiting for 2 hours, they confirmed it was just a system glitch with their notification system. They said as long as you can log in and see both sections show 'submitted' with the confirmation numbers, your application IS being processed correctly despite the emails. They advised to ignore the emails.

•Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Did they give you any idea how long it would take for the emails to stop? And did they mention if this glitch would affect processing time?

OMG SAME HERE!!! So frustrating! We even submitted TWICE thinking maybe something went wrong the first time (even though we had confirmation #s). Still getting those stupid emails telling us to finish. 🤬

•DON'T submit multiple times! That can actually cause more problems and delays. If you have confirmation numbers for both sections, your application is in the system. The duplicate submission might flag your application for review.

Financial aid advisor here. This is a known issue with the new FAFSA system this year. The email notification system is not properly syncing with the application database. If you received a confirmation page with both sections marked complete AND you have confirmation numbers for both the student and parent contributions, your application is properly submitted. I recommend taking these steps: 1. Screenshot the confirmation page showing both sections complete 2. Save your confirmation numbers in a secure location 3. Check studentaid.gov weekly to monitor your application status 4. If you don't see your SAI calculation within 3-4 weeks, then you should contact Federal Student Aid The good news is that despite these notification glitches, most applications are being processed correctly behind the scenes.

•Thank you for this professional insight! It's really reassuring. Do you know if schools are aware of these system issues? I'm worried they'll think we haven't submitted when we actually have.

•Yes, most financial aid offices are well aware of the technical issues with the new FAFSA system this year. They're getting updates directly from the Department of Education about these glitches. That said, it wouldn't hurt to contact your specific schools' financial aid offices with your confirmation numbers, just to ensure they have record of your submission.

I've been dealing with this exact same issue and it's been a nightmare trying to reach someone at Federal Student Aid to confirm everything is okay. After getting disconnected multiple times and waiting on hold for hours, I found Claimyr.com which helped me get through to an actual person at FSA in under 20 minutes. The agent confirmed what others here have said - if you have the confirmation numbers, your application is properly submitted despite the emails. You can see how it works in their demo video: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ Peace of mind was totally worth it rather than stressing about whether our application was actually submitted properly.

•I'll check this out - thank you! Just want confirmation from an official source that our application isn't lost in the system.

This is a systemic issue with the new revamped FAFSA system. Your application is fine as long as you have both confirmation numbers saved. The Department of Education has acknowledged the notification system problems but hasn't provided a timeline for fixing them. The more concerning issue is that even properly submitted applications are taking longer to process this year - up to 6 weeks in some cases compared to the usual 3-5 days for the SAI calculation to appear. I recommend monitoring your application status weekly and contacting your schools' financial aid offices to verify they can see your submission in their systems.

•6 WEEKS?! That's crazy! Our school's priority deadline is coming up soon. Should I be contacting the financial aid office now to let them know about these issues or wait until closer to the deadline?

•Contact them now. Most schools are being flexible with their priority deadlines this year because of the FAFSA rollout problems, but you want to get ahead of any issues. Just email them with your confirmation numbers and screenshots of your submission confirmation page.

•The issue seems to be affecting almost everyone. My daughter's college financial aid office told me they're seeing delays across the board with the new system.

UPDATE: For anyone following this thread - after about 3 weeks, the emails finally stopped for us. Our SAI showed up in the system after about 25 days (much longer than previous years). But everything processed correctly even with those annoying emails. So if you're experiencing this, just hang tight!

•Thank you SO much for coming back to update! That's really reassuring. We're only at the 2-week mark, so I'll try to be patient for a couple more weeks before really worrying.
