FAFSA Glitch: Can't Enter Student Assets, Stuck in Loop - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my FAFSA application and I'm hoping someone here can help. I'm stuck in this weird loop where I can't enter any numbers for my student assets. It's like the system is glitching out on me. Because of this, I can't submit my FAFSA application and it's really holding me back. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas on how to get around this glitch and finally turn in my application? I'm getting desperate here!

Ugh, FAFSA issues are the worst! 😫 Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that can help with weird glitches like this.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try and report back.

•Good idea! Also, try using a different browser altogether. I had issues with Chrome but it worked fine on Firefox.

•Update: Tried both clearing cache and using a different browser. Still no luck 😞 Any other ideas?

I had a similar issue last year. It turned out to be a problem on their end. Have you tried contacting FAFSA support directly?

•I've been trying to get through to them for days! It's like impossible to reach a real person.

•Oof, I feel ya. Their customer service can be a real pain. Keep trying tho, it's worth it when you finally get through.

Hey there! I work in my university's financial aid office, so I might be able to help. Here's what I'd suggest: 1. Double-check that you're using the correct FAFSA website (https://studentaid.gov/). Sometimes people accidentally use lookalike sites. 2. Try accessing the form at different times of the day. The system can get overloaded during peak hours. 3. Make sure your browser is up to date and try disabling any ad-blockers or extensions. 4. If none of that works, you might need to fill out a paper FAFSA form. It's not ideal, but it's an option if the online system keeps glitching. 5. Lastly, contact your school's financial aid office. We often have direct lines to FAFSA support and might be able to help troubleshoot or submit on your behalf. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

•This is great advice! I wish I had known about the paper form option when I was having issues.

•Quick question - how long does it usually take to process a paper form compared to the online version?

•Paper forms typically take 7-10 days longer to process than online submissions. It's not a huge difference, but something to keep in mind if you're on a tight deadline.

This happened to me too! I found a workaround by using the mobile app instead of the website. For some reason, it let me enter my assets there when the website wouldn't. Might be worth a shot!

•Oh wow, I didn't even know there was a mobile app! I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks for the tip!

Ugh, FAFSA is such a broken system. It's like they don't want us to get financial aid. 🙄 Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it.

•Fr fr. The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why are we still dealing with these issues? 🤦♂️

Hey, I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

•Sounds interesting. How long did you have to wait before getting connected?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. The service called me when an agent was on the line.

•Idk man, paying to get customer service seems sketchy. Shouldn't this be free?

•I get the skepticism, but for me, it was worth the $20 to not waste half my day on hold. Time is money, ya know?

•Does it actually work tho? Like, can you guarantee you'll get through?

•In my experience, yeah. If they don't get you through, you get a refund. So it's pretty low risk.

Have you checked if there are any known system outages? Sometimes FAFSA has maintenance periods that can cause weird glitches like this.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried accessing the site using a VPN? Sometimes regional server issues can cause problems like this.

•Huh, I hadn't thought of that. Any recommendations for a good VPN?

•NordVPN has worked well for me in the past. They usually have good deals too.

Hey Luca! I actually had this exact same issue last month and was pulling my hair out. What finally worked for me was logging out completely, clearing ALL my browser data (not just cache/cookies but everything), then waiting about 30 minutes before logging back in. Apparently the FAFSA system sometimes gets "stuck" on your session data. Also, make sure you're not using any browser extensions that might interfere - I had to disable my password manager temporarily. If that doesn't work, definitely try the mobile app suggestion from Andre - that's been a lifesaver for a lot of people! Hang in there, you'll get through this! 💪
