Can't figure out how to add schools to my FAFSA after submitting - anyone found the button?
Is anyone else struggling to add more schools to their FAFSA? I submitted my application last week, but now I need to add 2 more schools I'm applying to. I can see my current list of schools when I log in to studentaid.gov, but there's no obvious button or link to add more! I've clicked around everywhere and can't figure it out. The correction period supposedly started today but I'm completely lost. Has anyone successfully added schools to their existing FAFSA today? What am I missing?

Same boat! been trying since 7am to add a school. The website keeps showing my current schools but no + button or 'add school' anywhere. Super frustrating!!

•Ugh thanks for confirming I'm not going crazy! Have you tried calling the help line? I tried earlier but got disconnected after 40 minutes on hold.

You need to go to the 'Correction' section, not just view your existing application. Click on your most recent SAI confirmation number, then select 'Make FAFSA Correction.' On the correction menu, navigate to the 'School Selection' section - that's where you can add/remove schools. The correction feature just opened today so it might be glitchy or slow to update.

•Thank you so much! I'll try that right now. I didn't even see a Correction section anywhere, but I'll look harder for that SAI confirmation number link.

•This is only partially right... they changed the system this year so you have to first click "update my information" on your dashboard, THEN find the SAI confirmation, THEN you can see the correction option. The new system is so confusing omg

I've been helping students with this exact issue today. Here's the correct process: 1. Log in to studentaid.gov 2. Go to the 'My FAFSA' section 3. Find your 2025-2026 FAFSA application 4. Click on 'View or Print your FAFSA' 5. Look for the 'Make FAFSA Correction' button at the bottom of the page 6. Navigate through the sections until you reach 'School Selection' 7. There you can add schools using the search function If the correction option isn't appearing, it might be because: a) your FAFSA is still processing, b) you have a verification hold, or c) there's a technical delay with the correction feature rollout.

•Thank you for the detailed steps! I just tried this and the 'Make FAFSA Correction' button is still not showing up. My application still says 'Processing' - could that be why? It's been 'processing' for over a week though...

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! Been trying ALL DAY to add UCLA to my daughter's application. The button everyone keeps describing ISNT THERE!!! Called the help number and been on hold for TWO HOURS. How are we supposed to meet deadlines when nothing works???? System is BROKEN every single year!!!!

After struggling with this same issue for hours, I finally found that adding schools while your application is still 'Processing' is impossible. You have to wait until you get your SAI score first. Once your application changes from 'Processing' to 'Completed' with an SAI score, then the correction option appears. Mine took 9 days to process fully.

•That makes sense! I submitted 8 days ago so maybe I'll see it change to 'Completed' soon. I wish the website would just explain this instead of making us guess. Thanks for the info!

i got so annoyed with the website i ended up deleting my whole application and starting over lol. probably not the best solution but at least i could add all my schools at once 🤷♀️

•Wait can you actually do that?? Delete and restart? Is there any downside?

•DON'T DELETE YOUR APPLICATION!!! My financial aid advisor said this can flag your account for verification and delay everything by WEEKS!!

After spending hours trying to get through to a real person at Federal Student Aid about this same issue, I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it was a lifesaver. They connected me to an actual FSA agent in about 10 minutes when I'd been trying for days. The agent confirmed that the correction feature is rolling out gradually and explained exactly when my account would get access. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ if you want to see how it works. Definitely worth it for time-sensitive issues like adding schools before deadlines.

•Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to call FSA for days with no luck. I'll check this out - need to get these schools added ASAP before priority deadlines.

Just a quick update - the FSA office sent an email this morning saying there's a known issue with the correction feature for some users. They recommend: 1. Clear your browser cache completely 2. Try a different browser (Edge seems to work better than Chrome) 3. Wait 24-48 hours if you still can't see the correction option They're apparently rolling out a fix by tomorrow evening. Hope this helps!

•Thank you for the update! I just tried Edge instead of Chrome and I can now see a 'Correction' button! It wasn't showing up before at all. For anyone else having this issue - definitely try a different browser!

I had this exact same problem yesterday! What finally worked for me was switching to Microsoft Edge browser and clearing all my cookies first. The correction button showed up immediately after that. Also make sure your FAFSA status shows "Completed" with an SAI number - if it's still showing "Processing" the correction option won't appear no matter what browser you use. Hope this helps someone avoid the hours of frustration I went through!

•This is super helpful! I've been struggling with this for the past two days. Just switched to Edge and cleared my cookies like you suggested - still showing "Processing" though so I guess I need to wait for that to change first. Thanks for sharing what worked for you, definitely saving me more frustration!

I've been having the exact same issue since this morning! Thanks to everyone who shared their solutions - I tried switching to Edge browser and clearing my cache like some of you suggested, and I can finally see the correction option now. For anyone still stuck: make sure your FAFSA shows "Completed" status first (mine took 10 days to process), then try Edge browser with cleared cookies. The "Make FAFSA Correction" button should appear at the bottom when you view your FAFSA. The school selection section is buried a few clicks deep in the correction menu but it's there! Good luck everyone - this system really needs to be more user-friendly.
