Can't access my completed 2024-2025 FAFSA - only seeing system correction from April
I'm trying to review my 2024-2025 FAFSA application that I submitted back in December, but I'm hitting a wall. When I log into studentaid.gov, I can only see the system-generated correction that happened in April. I need to check some of the numbers I reported because my school's financial aid office is asking about a discrepancy with my parent's retirement contributions. Is there some hidden menu or archive section where completed applications from previous cycles are stored? Or does the system automatically replace the original submission with any corrections? Really frustrating that I can't see what I originally submitted!

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Did you ever figure out how to explain the discrepancy to your school?

The FAFSA system only displays the most current version of your application. When corrections are processed (whether initiated by you or system-generated), the previous version is essentially overwritten in the user portal. However, the FSA does maintain internal records of all versions.\n\nYou have two options:\n1. Contact your school's financial aid office - they can access all versions submitted to them\n2. Call Federal Student Aid at 1-800-433-3243 and request information about your original submission\n\nBe prepared for long wait times if you call FSA directly. They're still dealing with the new FAFSA rollout issues.

Thank you! I'll try contacting my school first since they're the ones asking about it. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to try calling FSA. Really wish they'd keep the history visible to us though...

Unfortunately, the PDF SAR (Student Aid Report) will only show the most current information, just like the online portal. It won't contain the original submission data if corrections have been made.

Just to add some clarification - the system-generated correction you're seeing from April was likely part of the massive overhaul FSA did to fix calculation errors in the new FAFSA. They had to recalculate millions of SAI scores and push corrections to almost everyone who applied early in the cycle.\n\nIf you need to view your original submission for comparison, you'll definitely need to contact FSA directly. Your school only received the corrected version, so they won't have your original numbers either.\n\nWhen you call, specifically request your \

That makes sense about the April correction - I remember hearing about all the calculation issues. I'll use that exact phrasing when I call. Thanks for the specific advice!

This exact thing happened to me!! I called the FSA number like 5 TIMES and couldn't get through to anyone. Kept getting disconnected after waiting 45+ minutes each time. FINALLY I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me through to an actual human in like 15 minutes. The agent was able to pull up my original submission and email me a summary of what I originally reported. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ\n\nSaved me so much stress since my school was about to cancel my aid package over the discrepancy!

Oh wow, that's really helpful! I tried calling earlier today and got disconnected after 30 minutes of waiting. I'll check out that service - at this point I'll try anything because my school is saying they might have to adjust my aid if I can't explain the retirement contribution numbers.

Is this service legit? Seems sketchy that you have to pay to talk to a government agency we should be able to reach for free. The FAFSA system is such a mess this year!!!

Totally get the skepticism! I felt the same way at first. But after wasting HOURS getting disconnected, it was worth it to me. It's just a call connection service - they don't access your FAFSA or anything. Once you're connected, you're talking directly to the actual FSA agents.

The whole FAFSA system this year is RIDICULOUS. They completely overhauled everything, broke their own calculations, then silently

Your frustration is completely valid. For future reference, taking screenshots of your submission and downloading a copy of your SAR immediately after submission can help in these situations. It's not ideal, but it gives you documentation of what was originally reported.

Update: I tried contacting my school's financial aid office first, but they only had the corrected version. Then I tried calling FSA directly and kept getting disconnected after long waits. I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned above, and it actually worked - got connected in about 12 minutes.\n\nThe FSA agent was able to pull up my original submission and confirmed there was a difference in how my parent's retirement contributions were reported before vs. after the April correction. She emailed me documentation showing both versions that I can share with my school. \n\nSo problem solved, but seriously FSA - why make this so difficult? Just let us see our submission history in our accounts!

Glad you got it resolved! And yes, submission history visibility would be a basic quality-of-life improvement they should implement. The good news is they've acknowledged many of the interface and transparency issues and have promised improvements for the 2025-2026 cycle.
