Can't see parent form after submission - need numbers for second child's FAFSA
I just submitted my first kid's FAFSA last night and totally messed up by clicking 'sign and submit' before taking screenshots of the parent financial information I entered. Now I need to complete my second child's application, but I wanted to use exactly the same numbers for consistency. The problem is, when I try to access the completed application, it just shows 'processing' and I can't view any of the details I submitted! Does anyone know when I'll be able to see my original submission? Do I have to wait until they open up the correction period? Or is there another way to access the parent financial info I already entered? This is my first time with FAFSA and I'm worried about entering slightly different numbers on the second application.

•Thanks for the response! 10 days feels like forever when I'm trying to get both applications done. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

There's actually a couple of things to know here. First, you don't have to wait until processing is complete. Once your first child's FAFSA is processed (typically 3-5 business days), you can begin a new FAFSA for your second child. When you do this, there's an option to 'transfer parent information' from a previously submitted FAFSA. This is designed exactly for your situation - it will pull all your parent financial information from your first child's application automatically. Look for this option when you start child #2's application.

•That's exactly what I need! I didn't realize there was a transfer option. I was looking all through the FSA website and couldn't find anything about accessing previous submissions. This is so helpful, thank you!

dont stress about it too much!! i ended up putting slightly diff numbers on my brothers fafsa vs mine (our dad did our parent part) and it wasnt a big deal. the financial aid ppl told us minor differences dont trigger any flags as long as theyre not like thousands of dollars different

•That's reassuring. I was worried they'd flag our applications if the numbers were off by even a little bit.

I'd like to clarify something important - while the transfer parent information feature is helpful, you should know that you can only see your completed FAFSA details after processing is complete (usually 3-7 days) OR when the correction period opens (typically 3-5 business days after you receive your SAI). If you need immediate access to see your submission details, you'll have to contact Federal Student Aid directly. Unfortunately, their call center wait times can be extremely long during peak application season, sometimes 2+ hours.

•I actually found a service called Claimyr that helped me skip those insane wait times when I needed to reach the FSA help desk about a similar issue. Instead of waiting on hold forever, they hold your place in line and call you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of frustration! Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

FAFSA redesign this year is the WORST!!! I helped 3 diff families fill out apps and NONE of us could see our submissions afterward!! Called FSA twice and got disconnected both times after waiting 45+ min. They should have NEVER launched this system if they knew we couldn't even see our own submitted info. How are we supposed to make sure nothing got messed up??!!

Let me share an important tip that many don't know: You can request a Student Aid Report (SAR) which contains all the information you submitted on your FAFSA. Go to studentaid.gov, log in, and click on 'View or Print your Student Aid Report.' This should be available sooner than waiting for the correction period to open. Also, don't worry too much about minor differences in parent information between siblings' applications. The Department of Education understands that slight variations can occur and they typically only investigate significant discrepancies.

•Thank you for this tip! I'll definitely try to access the SAR report. That sounds like it might solve my problem entirely.

When I filled out my twins' FAFSAs, I just did them both at the same time, switching back and forth between browsers so I could copy the exact same info. But I get your situation - most people don't submit multiple applications simultaneously. For future reference, always save PDFs of completed FAFSA forms before submitting. There's a 'Save as PDF' button on almost every page of the application, and this saves you from situations exactly like this.

•That browser trick is actually really smart! I'll remember the PDF tip for next year - definitely learning the hard way this time around.

•NOPE! 17 days and counting for me. This is ridiculous. How are we supposed to compare financial aid packages when schools need our SAI and we can't even get it?!

To provide a complete answer to your original question: You have several options: 1. Use the 'transfer parent information' feature when starting child #2's FAFSA 2. Wait 3-5 business days for processing to complete, then you can view your submission 3. Request your Student Aid Report (SAR) which contains all submitted information 4. If absolutely necessary, contact FSA directly for immediate access For the future, always use the 'Save as PDF' feature before submitting any FAFSA forms. This creates a complete record of everything you've entered.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I think I'll try the transfer feature first, and if that doesn't work, I'll look for the SAR. Really appreciate everyone's help with this!
