Is creating a WorkSource account considered a job search activity for ESD weekly claims?
I'm filling out my weekly claim for ESD unemployment and I'm confused about how to log creating my WorkSource account. Does this count as a "WorkSource Activity" or should I put it under "OTHER Activity" in my job search log? And if it IS a WorkSource activity, what am I supposed to enter for "where was this activity completed"? Do I just put "WorkSource" or the website URL or something else? This is my first time claiming and I'm worried about messing up my job search requirements. Thanks for any help!

Creating a WorkSource account is considered a WorkSource activity and does count toward your job search requirements. When it asks where the activity was completed, you can enter "WorkSourceWA.com" or "online." Make sure you take a screenshot of your completed account setup just in case ESD asks for verification later. You get 3 job search activities per week, so you'll need two more activities besides this one.

•Thank you! That's really helpful. So when it asks for what type of activity, I select "WorkSource Activity" from the dropdown menu, right? Not "Other"? And the site address for "where completed" works even though it's asking for a location? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want my claim denied.

I tried logging that as a job search activity last month but then my claim got flagged for review!!! idk if it was because of that or somethin else but just be careful

•Setting up a WorkSource account absolutely counts as a valid job search activity. Your claim was probably flagged for some other reason. I've been on UI twice and used this as an activity both times with no problems.

Yes, setting up a WorkSource account is a valid WorkSource activity. For "where was this activity completed" you should put "WorkSource online" or "WorkSourceWA.com". Just make sure you only count it once though - you can't keep using account creation as an activity every week. For future reference, here's a breakdown of what counts as valid job search activities: WorkSource Activities: - Creating a WorkSource account - Attending WorkSource workshops (virtual or in-person) - Meeting with a WorkSource counselor - Using WorkSource tools like resume builders Job Applications: - Applying for specific positions - Submitting resumes/applications Contacting Employers: - Cold calls/emails to potential employers - Following up on applications - Networking with industry contacts Remember you need 3 different activities each week. Hope this helps!

•This is super helpful, thank you! Do you know if attending the WorkSource orientation also counts as a separate activity from creating the account? I'm planning to do that tomorrow.

•Yes! The orientation absolutely counts as a separate activity. Each workshop or service counts individually. So if you create an account (activity 1) and attend orientation (activity 2), you'd just need one more job search activity to meet your weekly requirement.

I tried calling ESD last week to ask this EXACT question and was on hold for 2.5 hours before getting disconnected! So frustrating!!! BTW, I found this service called Claimyr that helped me finally get through to an ESD agent after weeks of trying. They connect you with ESD without the wait time. Check out the demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and their website claimyr.com. It was a huge relief to finally get my questions answered directly from ESD.

•Does this Claimyr thing actually work? I've been trying to reach ESD for a week about my adjudication issue. Seems sketch to use a third party though...has anyone else tried it?

•It worked for me. I was skeptical too, but after trying for weeks to get through normally, I was desperate. Got connected to an actual ESD agent in about 25 minutes instead of endless hold music and hangups. The agent I spoke with confirmed that creating a WorkSource account DOES count as a WorkSource activity, by the way.

This whole system is RIDICULOUS. They make everything so complicated on purpose to deny people benefits! Why can't they just make a simple checklist of what counts for job search? I had my claim denied because apparently I had "insufficient job search activities" even though I was applying to jobs EVERYDAY. Now I'm in appeals hell trying to get it fixed. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!

•The system definitely has its problems, but there actually is a checklist of acceptable job search activities on the ESD website here: https://esd.wa.gov/unemployment/job-search-requirements And for the original question - yes, creating a WorkSource account counts as a WorkSource activity, and you should put WorkSourceWA.com as the location.

Thank you everyone for all the helpful responses! I've gone ahead and logged it as a WorkSource activity with "WorkSourceWA.com" as the location. I'll also be attending their orientation workshop tomorrow which will count as my second activity. For my third activity, I've applied for a job I found on Indeed. Hopefully my claim goes through without any issues!
