How often do you get paid on Washington ESD unemployment - weekly or biweekly?
I just got approved for unemployment benefits through Washington ESD and I'm trying to figure out my budget. Do they pay weekly or every two weeks? I thought I read somewhere it was weekly but my neighbor said she gets hers every other week. Also do they pay on the same day each week or does it vary? I need to know when to expect the money so I can plan my bills accordingly.

Washington ESD pays unemployment benefits weekly, not biweekly. You file your weekly claim every Sunday and if everything processes correctly, the payment usually hits your account by Wednesday. The key is filing your weekly claim on time every single week.

•Thanks! So I need to file something every Sunday? What happens if I miss a Sunday?

•Yes, you must file your weekly claim every Sunday. If you miss it, you can still file late but there might be delays in processing your payment for that week.

Your neighbor might be confused about something else. Washington ESD definitely pays weekly if you file your weekly claims on time. I've been getting mine every Wednesday for the past 6 weeks.

•Maybe she's thinking of a different benefit or something. Good to know about Wednesday - that's helpful for planning.

The payment schedule is weekly but getting through to Washington ESD to ask questions about your claim can be incredibly frustrating. I spent hours on hold just trying to confirm my payment schedule when I first started. If you need to reach an agent quickly, I discovered this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you through to Washington ESD agents. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Saved me so much time and frustration.

•Never heard of that before. Does it actually work or is it just another scam?

•No it's legit - I was skeptical too but it actually connected me to a real Washington ESD agent in under 10 minutes. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

•Interesting, I might check that out. I've been trying to get through about my job search requirements for weeks.

Washington ESD processes unemployment payments on a weekly basis. Here's how it works: You file your weekly claim every Sunday (this is when you report any work and earnings for the previous week). If your claim processes without issues, payment is typically deposited by Wednesday. The exact day can vary slightly depending on your bank and whether there are holidays, but Wednesday is the standard.

•This is super helpful! So I file on Sunday for the week that just ended, and get paid Wednesday for that same week?

Libby Hassan
•Exactly right. You're always filing for the week that just ended (Sunday through Saturday) and payment follows a few days later if everything is approved.

•Good to know - I'll set a reminder on my phone for every Sunday

•Yeah Sunday filing is crucial. I set up a recurring alarm so I never forget.

the whole system is confusing when you first start but you get used to it. just remember sunday = file your weekly claim, wednesday = check your bank account

•That's a good way to remember it, thanks!

I'm worried about what happens if there's some kind of issue with my weekly claim. Do they still pay on the same schedule or does everything get delayed? I have rent due and can't afford any delays.

•If there's an issue with your weekly claim, like if you reported work hours incorrectly or there's some other problem, it can delay your payment. That's why it's important to be accurate when filing.

•That's exactly what I'm afraid of. I've never done this before and I'm terrified of messing something up.

•Don't panic - most issues are minor and can be resolved quickly. Just be honest and accurate when reporting any work or earnings, and you should be fine.

Does anyone know if the payment amount stays the same each week or can it change? I got my first payment last week but I want to make sure I can count on the same amount going forward.

Libby Hassan
•Your weekly benefit amount should stay consistent as long as you don't have any earnings to report. If you work part-time and earn money, that gets deducted from your weekly benefit.

Levi Parker
•OK that makes sense. So if I don't work at all, I should get the same amount each week?

•Correct, assuming you continue to meet all the other requirements like job search activities.

I remember when I first started getting unemployment, I was so confused about the timing. Now it's just routine - file Sunday, money Wednesday. The consistency is actually pretty nice once you get used to it.

One thing to watch out for - if you're on standby status through your employer, the payment schedule might be different. But for regular unemployment, it's definitely weekly.

Maya Jackson
•I'm not on standby, just regular unemployment, so sounds like I'm on the weekly schedule

•What's standby status? Is that different from regular UI?

•Standby is when your employer expects to call you back to work within a certain timeframe. It has different requirements than regular unemployment.

THE WASHINGTON ESD SYSTEM IS SO BROKEN!!! I've been waiting 3 weeks for my first payment even though I've filed every single weekly claim on time. This is ridiculous - people have bills to pay!

Tristan Carpenter
•If you haven't received payment for 3 weeks, there might be an issue with your claim that needs to be resolved. Have you tried calling Washington ESD?

Sophia Carter
•OF COURSE I'VE TRIED CALLING! I can never get through to anyone. The phone system just hangs up on me after hours of waiting.

•This is exactly why I mentioned Claimyr earlier - when you're stuck like this and can't get through the normal way, having another option to reach an agent is invaluable.

Just want to confirm what others said - Washington ESD pays weekly, not biweekly. File your weekly claim every Sunday, payment usually comes Wednesday. Been doing this for 2 months now and it's been consistent.

does anyone know what time on sunday you have to file by? like is there a deadline or can you file anytime sunday?
0 coins
Libby Hassan
•You can file your weekly claim anytime on Sunday. The system is available 24/7 on Sundays, so whether you file at midnight or 11:59 PM, it counts as on-time filing.

Quick question - if I file my weekly claim on Sunday, will I see the payment pending in my bank account before Wednesday, or does it not show up until it actually hits?
0 coins
Amaya Watson
•Depends on your bank. Some banks show pending deposits, others don't show anything until the money actually arrives. Mine shows pending on Tuesday usually.

This thread is really helpful! I was confused about the payment schedule too. One more question - do they send any kind of notification when they process your weekly claim, or do you just have to wait and see?
0 coins
Libby Hassan
•You can check your claim status online through your Washington ESD account. It will show when your weekly claim has been processed and when payment has been issued.

Jace Caspullo
•Perfect, I'll make sure to check that regularly

I had to call Washington ESD last month about a payment issue and it was absolutely impossible to get through. Waited on hold for 4 hours one day and the system just disconnected me. Finally tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned and got connected to an agent in like 15 minutes - totally worth it when you're dealing with payment problems.

•How much does something like that cost? I'm already struggling financially so I can't afford to pay a lot just to talk to someone.

•I get it - when you're unemployed every dollar counts. But honestly, the time it saved me was worth it. Plus when your payments are delayed, getting it resolved faster means you get your money sooner.

For anyone still confused: Washington ESD = weekly payments. File weekly claim on Sunday. Get paid Wednesday (usually). That's it. Simple once you know the routine.

One last tip - if you're having trouble remembering to file every Sunday, set up calendar reminders or phone alarms. Missing even one week can cause delays and headaches you don't need when you're already dealing with unemployment stress.

Just wanted to add - if you set up direct deposit, make sure your bank info is correct in your Washington ESD account before your first payment. I had a friend who had to wait an extra week because there was a typo in her account number. The weekly schedule is great once everything is set up properly, but small mistakes can cause delays you really don't want when you're counting on that money.

•That's such an important point! I just double-checked my bank info in my account after reading this. Better safe than sorry when you're relying on those payments to cover rent and bills. Thanks for the heads up about potential delays from banking errors.
