How fast does Washington ESD unemployment pay - still waiting 2 weeks after approval
My Washington ESD claim was finally approved last Wednesday but I still haven't received any payment. It's been exactly 2 weeks since approval and my account shows the weekly claims were processed but no money in my bank account yet. I chose direct deposit when I filed originally. Should I be worried something went wrong? How fast does Washington ESD usually pay out once your claim is approved?

Usually takes 2-3 business days after your weekly claim is processed. Check if your direct deposit info is correct in your SAW account - sometimes there's a typo in the routing number that causes delays.

•I double checked my banking info and it looks right. Maybe I should call Washington ESD to see what's going on?

There might be a hold on your first payment for identity verification. This is common with new claims. Check your SAW messages or correspondence section for any requests from Washington ESD.

•No messages in my account and no mail either. This is so frustrating, I have bills due!

•I had the same issue last month. Turns out there was an identity verification hold that didn't show up in my account messages. Had to call to find out.

•How did you get through to them? The phone lines are always busy when I try.

I was stuck in the same situation trying to reach Washington ESD for weeks about a payment delay. Someone here mentioned Claimyr (claimyr.com) and honestly it was a lifesaver. They help you get through to an actual ESD agent. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Within 2 hours of using their service I was talking to someone who explained exactly what was holding up my payment.

•Never heard of that service before. Is it legit or some kind of scam?

•It's legitimate - they basically handle the calling for you so you don't have to sit there hitting redial all day. Worth checking out their video demo to see how it works.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've been waiting 3 months for my payments and Washington ESD just keeps saying 'under review' with no explanation. Meanwhile I'm about to lose my apartment because I can't pay rent.

•That sounds like your claim is in adjudication. Have you submitted all the documents they requested?

•What documents?? Nobody told me about any documents! This is the first I'm hearing about this!

•Check your SAW correspondence section. If you're in adjudication there should be a list of required documents there.

For what it's worth, my payments usually hit my account on Tuesdays if I file my weekly claim on Sunday. Washington ESD processes payments in batches so timing matters.

•I filed both my weekly claims on Sunday mornings so that should be right. Still nothing though.

•same here, always file sunday and get paid tuesday like clockwork

•Well it's already Thursday and still no payment. Something is definitely wrong.

Check if there's a 'waiting week' applied to your claim. Washington ESD sometimes applies this for various reasons and it delays your first payment by a week.

•How do I check for that? I don't see anything about a waiting week in my account.

•It would show up in your claim summary or payment history. If you don't see it there, it's probably not the issue.

this is why i hate dealing with government agencies. everything takes forever and nobody can give you a straight answer about when you'll actually get paid

•Tell me about it. Private companies would never get away with this kind of service.

•I understand the frustration but Washington ESD is processing millions of claims. Some delays are inevitable with that volume.

•millions of claims and they still cant hire enough people to answer the phones. typical government efficiency

Had a similar delay last year and it turned out my bank was holding the ACH transfer for fraud review. Called my bank and they released it immediately. Might be worth checking with your bank too.

Update - I used that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier and finally got through to Washington ESD. Turns out there was a technical glitch with direct deposits processed on certain dates. The agent was able to push my payment through manually and I should see it by tomorrow. Really glad I didn't keep waiting around hoping it would fix itself.

•That's exactly what I needed to hear! Going to try Claimyr right now. Thanks for following up!

•wait so there's actually a technical issue affecting multiple people? that would explain why mine is delayed too

Gemma Andrews
•Yes, the agent said it was affecting direct deposits from a specific processing date. Worth calling to see if yours is caught up in the same thing.

Anyone else think it's ridiculous that we have to pay for a service just to talk to the agency that owes us money? The whole system needs an overhaul.

•I mean, if it works and gets you your money faster, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

•I guess but it shouldn't be necessary in the first place. Washington ESD should have enough staff to answer their phones.

•Agreed but until they fix their staffing issues, at least there are options like this Claimyr thing.

Just went through this whole thread and I'm having the exact same problem. Approved 10 days ago, no payment yet. Going to try calling my bank first then look into that Claimyr service if needed.

Final update: Used Claimyr this morning and got through to Washington ESD within an hour. There was indeed a technical issue with direct deposits from my approval date. Agent manually processed my payment and I should receive it tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the help, especially whoever mentioned Claimyr first!
