Can't get through to ESD agent - on hold for 4 hours then disconnected

I've been trying to reach someone at ESD for DAYS about my adjudication issue. Every time I call, I wait on hold forever (literally sat on hold for 4 hours yesterday) and then either get disconnected or it's after 5pm and they're closed! I've sent messages through eServices but nobody responds. My benefits have been on hold for 3 weeks now and rent is due next week. This is ridiculous! Has anyone actually managed to talk to a real person? What's the secret trick to getting through? I'm seriously about to give up.

Tooootally feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. Called like 20 times and kept getting the dreaded 'high call volume' message. So frustrating!!! Have you tried calling right when they open at 8am? That's what finally worked for me, but still had to wait like 45 mins.

Yeah, I've tried the 8am thing three times now. Each time I got the 'your estimated wait time is 2+ hours' message. Can't sit on hold that long when I'm at work. So sick of this!

The ESD phone system is completely overwhelmed right now. They're processing a huge backlog of claims with their limited staff. A few tips that might help: 1. Try calling on Wednesday or Thursday around 10:30am - slightly less busy in my experience 2. Have your claim ID and all documentation ready before calling 3. Be specific about your issue when prompted - don't just select 'general questions' 4. If you get a message saying they're too busy, hang up and try again immediately Also, make sure you're continuing to file your weekly claims even while waiting for adjudication resolution. That's crucial.

Thanks for the tips. I've been filing my weeklies religiously. I'll try the mid-morning Wednesday call tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FOR 5 WEEKS!!! The ESD system is BROKEN and they don't care about us at all!! I called 37 times in one day and never got through. My landlord was threatening eviction and ESD just kept saying 'be patient' in their automated messages. It's CRIMINAL how they treat people!!!!

I understand the frustration, but ESD is actually working with what they have. They're still dealing with staffing shortages and system upgrades. It's not that they don't care, but that they're overwhelmed. Calling multiple times in a row actually makes it worse for everyone as it clogs the system further.

Have you checked out Claimyr? I was in the same boat - couldn't get through for weeks, adjudication delay, benefits on hold. A friend told me about this service where they basically hold your place in line and call you when they've got an agent on the phone. Worked perfectly for me - went to claimyr.com, followed their process, and had an actual ESD agent on the phone within 2 hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Totally worth it for me because I needed to resolve my adjudication issue quickly. The agent was able to push my claim through once I explained the situation.

Wait, really? I've never heard of this. Seems too good to be true after all the frustration I've had. Did you actually get your issue resolved after connecting with the agent?

0 coins

Yes, absolutely! The agent I spoke with was able to see exactly what was holding up my claim (turned out it was a discrepancy in reported hours from my last employer). She fixed it while I was on the phone and my payment was processed within 48 hours. Just make sure you have all your claim info ready when they connect you.

One important thing to know about adjudication: if your claim is in adjudication, it means there's a specific issue that needs resolution. When you do get through to ESD, ask them specifically what the issue is and what documentation they need from you. Many times the adjudicator is waiting for information but the claimant hasn't been properly notified. In the meantime: 1. Check your ESD online account daily - sometimes they post messages requiring your response 2. Check your spam/junk email folders regularly 3. Make sure your address is current in the system 4. Continue filing weekly claims Also, for quickest resolution, try the specific department handling your issue type rather than the general line. For example, if it's an identity verification issue, there's a separate verification team.

This is really helpful, thank you. I've been checking eServices daily but there are no alerts or messages. The adjudication status just says 'pending' with no details about what they're reviewing. Is there a way to see the specific issue without talking to someone?

Sometimes the specific issue isn't visible in eServices, unfortunately. If you go to your 'Decisions' tab, you might see a determination letter that explains why your claim was flagged for adjudication. If not, you'll need to reach an agent. When you do get through, ask them to note in your file exactly what documentation they need, then ask them to send you an official request through eServices so you have it in writing.

I just went through this last month and finally got my benefits after 5 weeks of waiting! What worked for me was calling the technical support line instead of the claims line. They transferred me to a claims specialist after I explained my situation had been pending for over a month. Worth a try!

Do you happen to remember the technical support number? I'll try anything at this point!

I think it was 855-682-0785. Say your having technical problems with eServices and can't submit your documents online. They were way more helpful than the regular claims people.

Just wanted to follow up and see if you managed to get through to ESD with any of these suggestions? Did the adjudication issue get resolved?

Good news! I tried the Claimyr service mentioned above, and it actually worked! Got connected to an agent yesterday who told me my claim was flagged because my employer reported different separation details than I did. The agent helped me provide the additional documentation they needed and said my benefits should resume within 3-5 business days. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

That's awesome Jessica! So glad you got it sorted out. It's frustrating that it comes down to using third-party services to get through, but whatever works, right? Hopefully your benefits get released quickly now. Thanks for updating us - gives me hope that there are actual solutions out there when the regular system fails us.
