Final thought - if you do run into problems getting through to Washington ESD, remember that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier. It's been a lifesaver for several people I know who were stuck in the system. The demo video really shows how much easier it makes the whole process of actually talking to someone at Washington ESD.
UPDATE: I finally got through to Washington ESD and found out my claim was held up because they needed to verify my employment with my previous employer. The agent said it should be resolved within a week. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to find out what's going on.
I was in a similar situation and ended up using someone from my previous job's HR department. They have all the records and are used to these kinds of verification calls.
Just to add another perspective - if you're really stuck and can't reach Washington ESD for clarification, I had success using Claimyr to get through to an agent who explained exactly what they were looking for in that verification contact field.
The key is just to start the process. Don't overthink it. Apply online, provide accurate information, and follow up on any requests for additional documentation.
One more thing - if your claim gets put into adjudication don't panic. It just means they need to review something, often routine verification. But if you need to talk to someone about it, calling Washington ESD directly or using one of those callback services can help get answers faster.
For students, there are special rules too. If you're in school, you might still be able to get benefits but you have to prove you're available for work during all normal business hours. Being a full-time student can complicate things.
Bottom line - if you worked in Washington state, earned wages, and lost your job through no fault of your own, you should apply. The application will determine if you meet all the specific requirements. Don't try to figure it all out beforehand, just apply and let them tell you yes or no.

•You're totally right. I tend to spiral into these big picture worries when I should be taking concrete action on my situation.

•Same here when I was unemployed. Spent way too much time reading doom and gloom articles instead of applying for jobs. Action beats anxiety every time.

Minimum wage is just one factor among many. Industry consolidation, automation, outsourcing, economic cycles - all these have way bigger impacts on employment than wage floors. Don't let political debates distract you from your job search.

•Good plan! And remember to keep filing those weekly claims even during adjudication. Don't want to lose benefits over a technicality.
