The key thing is honesty. Report everything and let Washington ESD do the math. It's better to get a smaller benefit check than to risk an overpayment investigation.
One more thing - if you're working part-time for the same employer who laid you off, there might be different rules. Something about 'standby' status. Worth checking on that if it applies to your situation.
One last thing - make sure you understand the difference between 'able and available' and 'actively seeking work.' You have to be both to qualify for benefits each week. Able and available means you're physically and mentally capable of working and available to accept work. The job search requirement is separate from that.
This thread has been super helpful for me too. I'm bookmarking it in case I need to reference it later. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences!
Don't forget about work search requirements! Even though you just filed, Washington ESD expects you to be actively looking for work from day one. If you haven't started job searching yet, that could be part of the issue.
Whatever the reason for denial, document everything and keep all correspondence from Washington ESD. If you do need to appeal, having a paper trail makes the process much smoother. Good luck!
The whole system seems designed to be as confusing as possible. I've been trying to understand my eligibility for weeks and still have questions about my specific situation.
Same here! I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and finally got answers from an actual Washington ESD representative. Worth checking out if you're as frustrated as I was.
One more thing to consider - make sure you're meeting all the job search requirements even if you're getting the maximum benefit. Washington ESD requires 3 job search activities per week regardless of your benefit amount.

One last tip - if your claim goes to adjudication, don't panic. It's normal for disability cases to take longer for review. Washington ESD just needs to verify everything is legitimate.

•That's reassuring. I was worried adjudication meant something was wrong with my claim.

•Nope, just means they need more time to review. Mine went to adjudication too and everything worked out fine.

•Happy to help! These situations are stressful enough without having to navigate Washington ESD blind.
