Thanks everyone! My payment just showed up this morning. Really appreciate all the advice and explanations. This community is incredibly helpful for navigating Washington ESD's system.
For anyone else reading this, remember that Washington ESD payment timing is pretty consistent once you learn the pattern. The anxiety of that first payment is totally normal - we've all been there!
Been dealing with Washington ESD for years and the tax side is definitely the part that works smoothly. It's when you actually need to file claims or reach customer service that things get complicated. But at least the funding mechanism is solid.
That's when services like Claimyr come in handy. Sometimes you just need to actually talk to a human being at Washington ESD to sort things out.
Hope this helps clear things up! The unemployment tax system in Washington is actually pretty worker-friendly since we don't have to pay into it directly. Just another thing our employers handle behind the scenes.

Make sure you understand the difference between being fired and being laid off when you file. It affects how Washington ESD handles your claim during adjudication.

•They used the word 'terminated' but said it was performance related. Is that considered fired or laid off?

•That sounds like fired for cause. You'll likely go through adjudication but performance issues alone usually don't disqualify you unless there was misconduct.

Filed my claim 3 days after getting fired and the whole process took about 2 weeks to get my first payment. Would have been longer if I had waited to file.

•2 weeks isn't too bad. Did you have any complications with your claim?

•Nope, pretty straightforward. Being honest about everything and having my documentation ready helped a lot.
