The eligibility isn't that complicated really. Work for at least 680 hours or earn $1,000+ in your base period, lose your job through no fault of your own, be able and available for work. Most people who worked a regular job qualify.
I used that claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it was honestly a game changer. Got connected to an ESD agent who walked me through the whole eligibility process and helped me understand exactly what I needed to do. Worth checking out if you're having trouble getting through on your own.
Definitely worth it. The video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ shows exactly how it works.
Make sure you're also looking for work and keeping track of your job search activities. Washington ESD requires that even while your claim is processing.
2-4 weeks is standard but it feels like forever when you're waiting. Just remember that once it's approved, you'll get paid for all the weeks you've been filing, including the waiting period.
Just wanted to add that if you disagree with their calculation once you get your determination letter, you can appeal within 30 days. Sometimes they miss wages or use the wrong base period.
Also remember you need to certify for benefits every week even if you haven't heard back about your claim approval. Missing a week can mess up your payments later. Washington ESD is pretty strict about the weekly certification requirements.
this thread has been super helpful. i'm in the same boat as OP and was totally confused about the timeline. 26 weeks makes sense now. thanks everyone!

I'm seeing more and more of these mysterious disqualifications lately. Wonder if Washington ESD changed their review process or if they're just overwhelmed and making more mistakes. Either way, definitely appeal if you think you qualify for benefits.

•That's what I'm thinking - this seems like it could be an error since I was clearly laid off through no fault of my own

Final update - I used Claimyr this morning and finally got connected to a Washington ESD agent. Turns out my employer had reported that I was fired for attendance issues instead of laid off due to downsizing. Complete lie but now I know what I'm dealing with. Filing my appeal with documentation that proves the real reason I lost my job. Thanks everyone for the help and advice!

•Typical employer BS - lying to avoid paying unemployment taxes. Fight it hard and make them prove their false claims!

•Thanks everyone! Will definitely update here once I hear back about the appeal. Hoping this helps other people in similar situations.
