I finally got through to Washington ESD after using Claimyr and they said my claim should clear within the next week. They were able to explain exactly what was causing the delay.
The economic data shows we're likely to see unemployment continue rising for the next 6-12 months. Washington ESD needs to prepare for sustained high volume, not just treat this as a temporary spike.
Just wanted to add that if you do get approved, make sure you understand the work search requirements. You'll need to actively look for jobs that you can actually take given your class schedule.
Just want to echo what others said about calling if you need clarification. I know Claimyr has been mentioned a few times but it really does work for getting through to Washington ESD when you have complex questions that can't be answered online.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info in this thread! As someone else who's pregnant and confused about benefits, this has been incredibly valuable. Good luck OP!
Does anyone know if overtime counts toward your highest quarter calculation? I had a lot of OT in my best quarter.

•That's great to hear! Maybe I'm worrying about nothing. Did you have to do anything special when you filed?

The bottom line is that unemployment insurance exists for situations exactly like this. You pay into the system through your paychecks, so don't feel bad about using it when you need to. Performance issues happen and that's why we have this safety net.

•Thanks for saying that. I do feel guilty about potentially collecting unemployment but you're right that I've been paying into it.

•Exactly! It's insurance, not welfare. You've earned the right to use it if you lose your job through no fault of your own.
