I thought there was something about training extensions? Like if you're in an approved training program you can get extra weeks?
One thing to watch out for - make sure you report any part-time work or odd jobs while you're collecting. Even small amounts of income need to be reported on your weekly claims or you could get hit with an overpayment later.
You can still work part-time and collect benefits, they just reduce your weekly amount based on what you earn. Better to report it and get partial benefits than hide it and get in trouble.
Based on what you've described, you definitely qualify. 8 months of steady work is plenty to establish a base period, and getting laid off means you're eligible. File as soon as possible and don't stress about it!
If you're ever having trouble with the weekly filing system or need to talk to someone at Washington ESD about it, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier is legit. I used it when I had questions about reporting part-time work and they got me through to an agent in like 15 minutes instead of the usual hours of calling.
Just wanted to add that if you received unemployment in multiple states during the pandemic, you'll get separate 1099-G forms from each state's employment department. Don't forget to include all of them on your federal return.
Bottom line - yes you have to pay federal income tax on ALL unemployment benefits received after 2020. The temporary exclusion was only for 2020 tax year. Plan ahead for next year if you're still receiving benefits.

The best advice I can give is to file as soon as possible since there's usually a waiting week before benefits begin. Don't wait around trying to calculate exact amounts.

•You're welcome! The sooner you file, the sooner you'll know your exact benefit amount and can start receiving payments.

Also remember to keep looking for work while collecting benefits. Washington ESD requires you to be able and available for work to continue receiving payments.
