Thanks everyone for all the info! This has been way more helpful than trying to navigate the Washington ESD website on my own. At least now I know what to look for when I check my wage history.
One last thing - if you do qualify and end up filing, don't wait if you lose your job. File right away since there's usually a waiting week and processing time. Benefits don't go backwards to when you should have filed.
File now! Don't wait another day. Washington ESD benefits can really help during your job search. Just be prepared that your first payment might take 2-3 weeks after you file, so budget accordingly. The system works but it's not instant.
Absolutely file for unemployment! You clearly qualify based on what you've described. The Washington state system is actually pretty good once you get started. My only advice is to keep detailed records of everything - your job search activities, any contact with ESD, dates you file claims, etc.
Just wanted to add that timing matters when you file. Don't wait too long after becoming unemployed because you can't get benefits for weeks before you actually file the claim, even if you were eligible.
Bottom line - plan for 3-4 weeks minimum, hope for 2 weeks, and have a backup plan if it takes longer. The system is better than it was during the pandemic but still not great. Keep filing weekly claims, respond to any requests immediately, and don't panic if it takes a bit longer than expected.
One more thing - if you end up needing to contact Washington ESD and can't get through the regular way, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier actually works. I was skeptical but it saved me tons of time when I needed to resolve an issue with my weekly claim.

Just to follow up on the Claimyr thing - I ended up needing to use it again when I had questions about my job search requirements. It's really handy when you need to talk to someone who can look at your specific account and give you accurate information instead of just general advice.

•I've been thinking about trying that. The phone system for Washington ESD is impossible - I've tried calling probably 20 times and never gotten through.

•That's exactly why I started using it. The regular phone system is basically unusable when you actually need help.

Bottom line - file your claim ASAP and don't let anyone tell you that you can't get benefits just because you were fired. Let Washington ESD make that determination based on the facts. Most terminations don't involve misconduct, even if the employer tries to make it sound worse than it was.

•Good luck! Remember that even if there are bumps in the process, most people do get their benefits approved. Stay persistent and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it.
