PA UC phone number that actually works? Been trying for 2 weeks!

I've been trying to get thru to PA unemployment for 2 WEEKS now! Every time I call the 888-313-7284 number it just disconnects me after the automated message or I'm on hold forever until it hangs up. I need to talk to an actual person about my open issue - my bills are stacking up and I can't wait anymore! Is there a direct number or extension that actually works? Or maybe a better time to call? I've tried early morning and mid-afternoon with no luck. Does anyone know how to get a REAL HUMAN on the line???

The official number is still 888-313-7284, but it's basically useless these days. I spent THREE MONTHS trying to reach someone about my disqualification issue. Seriously, the system is designed to keep us out! Have you tried sending a message through your online portal? They sometimes respond within a week that way (though often with a generic answer that doesn't actually help). Another option is going to your local CareerLink office in person - they can sometimes get you connected to UC staff.

Thank you! I sent a message through the portal last week but haven't heard anything back. I might try the CareerLink option if I get desperate enough.

CareerLink usually can't directly help with UC issues anymore - they'll just tell you to call the same number or use the portal. They stopped having direct lines to UC reps around 2023.

I had the exact same problem last month trying to resolve an open issue on my claim. After weeks of trying, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to a PA UC rep in about 45 minutes. They basically call for you and hold your place in line, then call you when they get a rep on the phone. Saved me hours of frustration. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

Is that service actually legit? Sounds kinda sketchy to have someone else calling for you...

Yeah it's legitimate. They don't access your account or anything, they just handle the phone part. They connect you directly with the UC agent once they get through.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'm looking into it now! At this point I'll try just about anything to get my issue fixed.

I didn't even know there was a chat feature! Where exactly is it on the site?

There isn't an actual chat feature on the PA UC website anymore. They removed it in 2024 and replaced it with the message center. The only ways to contact them now are phone, message center, or fax (yes, they still use fax).

I finally reached someone after 3 weeks of calling! My trick was calling on Wednesday around 2:30pm. For some reason they seem less busy mid-week and mid-afternoon. Also, when you get to the menu, press 1-1-3-2 in that order. Somehow that sequence got me to a different queue with shorter wait times. Good luck!!

The menu options actually changed last month. The current path for claim issues is 1-2-1 for English speakers. The old menu sequence might route you to the wrong department now.

As a regular on these forums, I've seen this question come up frequently. Here's what actually works in 2025: 1. Call the main number (888-313-7284) between 8:15-9:00am or 3:30-4:00pm. These are shift transition times when more agents are available. 2. If you have a specific open issue, use the correct menu option: press 1 (English), then 2 (existing claim), then 1 (claim questions). 3. If disconnected, wait 15 minutes before calling back (their system flags repeated calls). 4. If you've been waiting more than 3 weeks for an open issue resolution, you can also try contacting your state representative's office. They often have special channels to UC offices. 5. Make sure your contact information is up to date in your portal - sometimes they try to call you about issues but have old numbers.

Thank you so much for all this detailed info! I'm going to try the 3:30pm call tomorrow with the menu options you suggested. I hadn't thought about checking if my contact info was updated - just verified and it's current. Really appreciate the help!

just go to the unemployment office in person. they cant ignore u when ur standing there

PA doesn't have walk-in unemployment offices anymore. All UC operations are centralized in call centers that don't accept in-person visits. This has been the case since around 2016-2017.

UPDATE: I finally got through!!! Used the Claimyr service that someone suggested here and was connected to a UC rep in about an hour. The rep was able to see that my open issue was just waiting for supervisor review - apparently they tried to call me last week but it went to voicemail (I never got a notification they called). He expedited my case and said my payments should be released within 3-5 business days. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

So happy to hear you got it resolved! This gives me hope - I've been dealing with a similar open issue for weeks. Going to try the Claimyr service too. Thanks for updating us with the good news!
