Will working one day cancel my New York Unemployment benefits?

Started collecting unemployment from New York after my layoff. Got offered to work one day at a temp agency. Really need the money but scared I'll lose all my benefits. Anyone know what happens if I work just one day? Do I have to report it? Will they cut me off completely?

You definitely need to report ANY work and income. Even if its just one day. You'll just get a reduced benefit that week based on what you earned. They wont cut you off unless you lie about it.

Fr fr this is the answer 💯 My cousin didn't report one day of work and got hit with an overpayment notice later. Not worth the headache

When you certify for the week, just say YES to working and enter your gross earnings (before taxes). Simple as that!

Hey everyone! If anyone needs to actually talk to someone at unemployment, I found this website claimyr.com that calls and waits on hold for you. Costs $20 but totally worth it. They got me through to someone in like 45 mins. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

100% legit! Used it twice already. Better than spending hours on hold yourself

I worked 2 days last month. Just make sure u report the exact hours and pay. They'll deduct some money that week but ur benefits continue normal after that

The formula is if you make more than your weekly benefit amount, you get zero for that week. Less than that, they reduce it. But it doesn't affect future weeks at all

DONT RISK IT NOT REPORTING!! They check with employers and cross reference everything these days. Better to report and get less than commit fraud and get caught later 👀

make sure to print/screenshot your paystub for that day. sometimes unemployment will ask for proof later and its good to have records
