NYS Department of Labor claim denied - what does the bible say about unemployment and finding work?
My unemployment claim got denied by NYS Department of Labor last week and I'm really struggling. Been out of work for 2 months now after getting laid off from my retail job. I know this might sound weird but I've been reading my bible a lot lately trying to find guidance about being unemployed and looking for work. Does anyone know what scripture says about unemployment? I'm trying to stay positive while I appeal the denial but it's hard when bills are piling up. Has anyone else turned to faith during their unemployment journey?

I'm sorry about your denial. First, make sure you file that appeal within 30 days of the denial notice. As for biblical guidance, there are several passages about work and perseverance. Proverbs 14:23 says 'In all labor there is profit' and 2 Thessalonians 3:10 talks about the importance of work. But remember, even faithful people face unemployment - it's not a reflection of your character.

The bible has a lot to say about work! Ecclesiastes 3:13 says being able to work and enjoy your labor is a gift from God. Also consider Jeremiah 29:11 about God having plans for your future. Don't give up on the appeal process - sometimes these denials get overturned.
