How long after unemployment interview do you get paid - NYS Department of Labor timing?
Had my telephone interview with NYS Department of Labor last Thursday about my separation from my warehouse job. The interviewer said they needed to review my case but didn't give me a timeline. My claim has been in adjudication for almost 6 weeks now and I'm getting desperate. Bills are piling up and I need to know when I might see payment. Has anyone been through this process recently? How long did it take after your interview to actually get paid?

After the interview, NYS Department of Labor typically takes 1-3 weeks to make their determination. If approved, you should see payment within 2-3 business days after the decision is posted to your account. Keep checking your my.ny.gov portal for updates on your claim status.

•Thanks! I've been checking daily but still shows 'adjudication in progress.' Guess I just need to be patient a little longer.

•I had the same problem with getting through on the phone. I actually used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps you reach NYS Department of Labor agents directly. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

•Interesting, never heard of that before. Might be worth looking into if I don't hear anything soon.

What was your interview about? If it was a quit vs fired situation, those can take longer because they need to verify details with your employer. Mine was for attendance issues and took about 10 days after the interview to get approved.

•It was about whether I was laid off or fired. My supervisor said it was a layoff due to reduced orders but HR coded it differently on my separation notice.

Just want to say hang in there. I know how stressful this waiting period is, especially when you're worried about bills. The NYS Department of Labor system can be slow but they do eventually get through everything.

The whole adjudication process is a JOKE. Six weeks is ridiculous for someone who just needs unemployment benefits to survive. Meanwhile they're sitting on thousands of cases while people can't pay rent. This system needs a complete overhaul.

•I understand the frustration, but the adjudication process exists to prevent fraud and ensure only eligible claimants receive benefits. Complex cases with conflicting information do take time to investigate properly.
