What does IRS Code 806 mean on transcript - is this amount being taken from my refund?

I see code 806 on my transcript and there's a dollar amount next to it. Does this mean they're taking this money away from my refund? Really confused and worried about what this means for my return.

Tax expert here - Code 806 is actually good news! It represents your withheld income tax credit (basically the taxes taken from your paychecks throughout the year). This amount is ADDED to your refund, not taken away. It's what you've already paid in.

Could be because you earned less or had different withholding settings on your W4. Might wanna check your pay stubs

Should be on the account transcript, not the return transcript. Look for the section with all the codes and dates
