Verified on phone March 1st, still no DDD - keeping my appointment anyway

Finally got through to a TP advocate on March 1st who verified my ID and confirmed my return is processing correctly. Anyone else in the same boat get their DDD yet? Transcript still shows processing with TC 570/971 combo. I've got a TAC appointment scheduled for March 22nd, and even if my refund hits before then, I'm still going to show up and ask what caused the delay. These processing timeframes are unacceptable when I filed on Jan 29th with direct deposit. Kids' spring activities aren't going to pay for themselves. šŸ™„

According to IRM 21.4.1.3, once identity verification is complete, the refund should process within 9 weeks from the verification date. However, per Notice 2024-2, the IRS is still experiencing significant backlogs from the 2023 filing season that are impacting current year returns. The 570 code (additional account action pending) paired with a 971 (notice issued) typically indicates they needed verification, which you've completed. Now you're in what they call the "post-verification queue" which, surprisingly, can take 2-4 weeks despite verification being complete.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I've been trying to understand these codes for weeks. It's good to know there's an actual name for what we're experiencing - the "post-verification queue" makes sense.

This post-verification queue is like being stuck in traffic after paying the toll, isn't it? I'm curious though - does the system actually show us moving through this queue, or is it just radio silence until suddenly there's movement?

So basically after verification we're still stuck waiting? smh. Does anyone know if calling again after being in this "queue" for 2+ weeks helps at all? Or just waste of time?

Went through almost the exact same thing last year. Verified on Feb 28th, didn't see my DDD until March 18th. Why does the IRS make us wait so long after they've already confirmed our identity? Isn't the whole point of verification to then release the funds? And yet here we are, waiting in yet another mysterious queue. At least you've got that TAC appointment as backup. Smart move keeping it even if your refund comes through.

I was in a similar situation and was getting nowhere with regular IRS calls. My experience with Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) was surprisingly helpful: ā€¢ Connected with an actual IRS agent in about 15 minutes ā€¢ Agent was able to see exactly where in processing my return was stuck ā€¢ Got specific timeframe instead of generic "9 weeks" answer ā€¢ Received my DDD exactly when the agent predicted Might be worth trying before your appointment if you want more specific info? Just a thought since you seem like someone who likes having all the facts.

Is this service actually legit? Seems kinda sketch to pay someone just to call the IRS for me lol. No offense but couldn't I just keep calling myself? (Though tbh I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point šŸ˜©

I was hesitant too, but I used Claimyr last month and can confirm it works as advertised. Here's what happens: 1. You pay for their service 2. They navigate the IRS phone tree and wait on hold 3. When they reach an agent, you get a call to connect you 4. You talk directly to the IRS agent yourself No sharing personal info with the service - they're just handling the hold time. Saved me about 2 hours of hold time, which was worth it to me since I was working.

Be careful about relying too much on what they tell you over the phone. Last year I was told my return was "processing normally" and would be deposited "within 21 days." That was after waiting 45 days already! Ended up waiting another 6 weeks with no updates. When I finally got my refund, it had been adjusted downward with no explanation. Had to call again and was told I'd receive a letter explaining the adjustment, which never came. Your TAC appointment is definitely the way to go.

The current backlog is affecting approximately 1.7 million returns from what I've gathered from published IRS data. I tracked 247 cases in a spreadsheet from various forums with the 570/971 combo after verification. The average wait time from verification to DDD was exactly 17.3 days, with outliers waiting up to 32 days. Only about 22% received their DDD within the first week after verification. The system seems to batch process these verified returns on Wednesdays and Thursdays based on the pattern I'm seeing.

Just got my DDD today actually! Verified on Feb 28th and transcript updated this morning with 846 code for March 13th deposit. I was sort of losing hope since it had been almost two weeks with no movement. Maybe check your transcript again? Sometimes they update overnight and it might have changed since you last checked.

From what I've seen across multiple tax seasons, the IRS tends to prioritize returns in batches based on filing method, credits claimed, and verification status. Back in 2022, I waited 3 weeks after verification before seeing any movement. Last year was faster - only 9 days. This year I verified on Feb 15th and got my DDD on March 2nd. The community wisdom seems to be that post-verification waits are getting shorter as the season progresses, so you might see movement very soon.
