TurboTax vs FreeTaxUSA pricing comparison - which is better value?
Getting ready to file my taxes and trying to decide between TurboTax and FreeTaxUSA. TurboTax seems expensive but everyone uses it. FreeTaxUSA looks way cheaper but idk if its as good. Anyone use either one? What did you end up paying?

Tax professional here. FreeTaxUSA is absolutely legitimate and does the same thing as TurboTax for much less. TurboTax federal+state usually runs $120-170 depending on complexity. FreeTaxUSA is free federal and $15 for state. Both are IRS authorized e-file providers. The only real difference is the interface - TurboTax is prettier but FreeTaxUSA gets the job done.
