TurboTax Filed Feb 19th - No Updates & Oklahoma State Refund Status?
Has anyone who used TurboTax possibly seen any updates lately? It was accepted February 19th and we sort of opted in to get it up to 5 days early, but all it says is "accepted". We used TurboTax last year as well and if I remember correctly, we didn't really see any updates until after we actually received our return. Also, we live in Oklahoma and by this time last year we had probably received our state refund like a week before federal, but I can't seem to figure out how to check the progress for Oklahoma state refunds. Any tips would be appreciated.

TurboTax's "5 days early" feature is basically worthless compared to other filing services. I've used both TurboTax and FreeTaxUSA this year (different returns) and the FreeTaxUSA one was processed in half the time despite filing later. TurboTax just means your return gets accepted into the system, but then it sits in the same IRS queue as everyone else's. The "early" part only applies if your bank releases funds ahead of the official deposit date, which most major banks do anyway now. For Oklahoma, you need to use the OkTAP system at https://oktap.tax.ok.gov - they don't have a simple tracker like the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool.

Is that really true about the 5 days early thing? I always wondered if it was just a marketing gimmick. Seems like they're just promising something the banks would do anyway, haha. Have you noticed any actual difference in processing times between different tax services?

I'm trying to understand the OkTAP system but struggling. Here's what I've tried: 1. Created an account 2. Logged in 3. Clicked on "Individual Income Tax" 4. Can't find where to check refund status Do I need to register my return somehow first? Or is there a specific section I'm missing?

You're sitting in tax limbo right now, like a letter stuck between mailboxes! Time is ticking away and you need visibility ASAP. I was in the exact same boat last week - try https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript. It's like having x-ray vision into the IRS system! It showed me exactly where my return was stuck and when to expect movement. Much better than refreshing WMR every hour like I was doing. The clock is ticking on tax season and you need answers now, not in another month when it's too late to address issues.

I'm in the same situation with TurboTax right now. Last year I filed around February 15th and didn't see any updates until suddenly the money appeared in my account on March 10th. This year I filed on February 17th and it still says "accepted" with no other updates. I'm getting slightly worried because I'm counting on this money for some bills, but based on my previous experience, this seems to be how TurboTax works with the IRS system. The whole "5 days early" thing didn't seem to make any difference for me either time.

Called IRS yesterday. Waited 2.5 hours. Got disconnected. Used Claimyr instead. Got through in 20 minutes. Agent confirmed my return is still processing. No issues flagged. Just backlogged. Worth the fee? Absolutely. https://claimyr.com saved me hours of frustration.

Be careful with TurboTax this year! I filed on February 12th and my return got stuck in processing for 6 weeks. When I finally got through to the IRS, they told me TurboTax had a batch of returns with a specific formatting issue that required manual review. I needed that money for my car payment and ended up having to make arrangements with my lender. If your return doesn't update by next week, I'd strongly recommend calling to check if you're caught in the same issue. The sooner you know, the sooner you can make financial plans.

Do you perhaps know if this formatting issue was related to any specific tax credits or deductions? I'm wondering if maybe there are certain parts of our return that might possibly trigger this kind of manual review. Also, did they give you any sort of timeline for when it might be resolved?

I found a workaround for checking Oklahoma state refunds! Isn't it frustrating how they make these things so difficult to find? I called the Oklahoma Tax Commission (405-521-3160) and used their automated system. You need your SSN, filing status, and refund amount. Mine was accepted February 15th and I got my state refund yesterday, while my federal is still processing. Couldn't the state and federal systems talk to each other better? Why make us check two completely different systems?

FYI - the "accepted" status just means the IRS received your return, not that they've started processing it. TT shows "accepted" the moment the IRS sends the acknowledgment that they got it. After that, TT doesn't get any more updates from the IRS. You need to check WMR or your transcript directly on the IRS website for actual processing updates. The TT app/website won't show anything new until the money's about to hit your account.

TurboTax filer here with some actual data points: • Feb 15 - Filed through TurboTax with direct deposit • Feb 16 - IRS accepted return • Feb 28 - WMR updated to approved • Mar 2 - Refund deposited For Oklahoma state: • Use OkTAP portal (https://oktap.tax.ok.gov) • Select "Look Up a Return" under Quick Links • State refunds typically process in 5-10 business days • Oklahoma has a separate processing center from federal • State refunds aren't tied to federal processing timelines Most TurboTax filers I know are seeing 14-21 day processing times this year unless they claimed certain credits.
