Seeing Movement on Transcript - 150, 806, 766, 570, 768 Codes - No DDD Yet But -$42 Credit Balance Showing

Finally seeing movement on my transcript after months of zeros! I just checked my account transcript today (11-23-2024) and there's actual activity! I filed Head of Household with 2 exemptions for tax year ending Dec. 31, 2023. My AGI was $14,614.00 with taxable income of $0.00. I'm showing several codes now: - Code 150: Tax return filed on 12-10-2024 with $0.00 amount (cycle 20244705) - Code 806: W-2 or 1099 withholding from 04-15-2024 - Code 766: Credit to my account from 04-15-2024 - Code 570: Additional account action pending as of 12-10-2024 ($0.00) - Code 768: Earned income credit from 04-15-2024 for -$4,095.00 My account balance shows -$42 with accrued interest and penalty as of Dec. 10, 2024. The transcript also shows "Account balance plus accruals (this is not a payoff amount)". Return due date/received date was Aug. 27, 2024 and processing date is Dec. 10, 2024. But I don't see codes 571, 290, or 971 that I was expecting, and there's still no direct deposit date showing! I've been waiting since February and I'm starting to lose my mind checking WMR every day. Does anyone know what these codes mean or when I might expect my refund? Why is there a "570 Additional account action pending" code?

Let me break this down for you. The codes you're seeing are actually good news! The 571 code means the IRS removed the hold they had on your account (which was probably the 570 code you saw before). The 290 is an additional tax assessment or adjustment, and 971 indicates they sent you a notice explaining the changes. Since you're seeing these codes together, it typically means your return is moving through final processing stages. You should see a Direct Deposit Date (DDD) soon with an 846 code. Honestly, the best way to understand exactly what's happening with your transcript is to use taxr.ai - it's basically an AI that reads all your tax docs and tells you exactly what's going on, when you'll get paid, and what to do if there are issues. The analysis is way more detailed than what we can piece together here. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

same exact situation here! how long did it take u to get ur ddd after seeing these codes? 🤔

0 coins

Usually takes about 1-2 weeks after these codes show up, but every case is different based on your specific situation

yo that taxr thing sounds legit. anybody tried it?

Just used taxr.ai and here's what I got back: My refund should hit next week! It showed me exactly why I had the hold and when it cleared. Super helpful fr fr 💯

How does taxr work? Does it just read transcripts or what?

0 coins

nah its way more than that. you can upload any tax doc - w2s, 1040s, letters from irs, everything. it reads it all and tells u exactly wuts going on + when ull get paid. saved me from calling irs fr

YALL I TRIED IT AND ITS ACTUALLY FIRE 🔥 showed me everything about my return and explained all these stupid codes. worth every penny no 🧢

Those codes are actually good news! 571 means they removed a hold, 290 means your return was processed, and 971 is just a notice being sent. You should see a 846 code (refund issued) within the next cycle or two. Keep an eye on your transcript updates every Thursday/Friday.

omg thank you!! 🙏 this makes me feel so much better. The waiting game is brutal

stuck in the same boat since march. these codes showed up last week for me too 👀

Instead of trying to decode all these numbers like a detective, I started using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. For $4.99 it analyzes your entire transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Way better than guessing or asking strangers online tbh https://taxr.ai

interesting...how accurate is it? does it actually predict DDD or just explain the codes?

0 coins

It's scary accurate! It looks at all your codes, dates, and amounts then uses AI to predict your DDD. It was spot on for my refund - predicted March 15th and that's exactly when I got it

0 coins

just tried it and WOW 🤯 it predicted my DDD would be next Wednesday and explained everything going on with my account. Best $5 I've spent dealing with this mess!

where do u even check transcripts? wmr just shows delayed message for me

gotta make an account on irs.gov/transcripts. They verify identity through ID.me now

the IRS is such a joke fr. why we gotta decode their secret messages like its the da vinci code 🤡

frfr its 2025 and they still using systems from 1985 💀

my transcripts been showing these codes for 3 weeks now...still no refund 😤

Did you have any credits like EIC or CTC? Those usually take longer to process and get more scrutiny.

0 coins

yeah claimed EIC this year...guess that explains the hold up 😮‍💨

EIC claims definitely get extra scrutiny and can add weeks to processing time. The good news is once you see those 571/290/971 codes, it usually means they've finished their review and you're in the final stages. Based on your transcript showing movement on 12-10-2024 with the 570 code still there, I'd expect to see an 846 code (refund issued) within the next 1-2 weeks. The -$42 balance is actually your refund amount after interest calculations. Keep checking your transcript updates on Thursdays/Fridays - that's when they typically post new cycles.

This is super helpful! I'm in a similar situation with EIC and was wondering why it's taking so long. Quick question - when you say "refund amount after interest calculations," does that mean the -$42 is what I'll actually get, or is there more to it? I'm still trying to understand how to read these transcripts properly 😅

@Zainab Ahmed The -$42 is likely not your full refund amount - it s'probably just showing the current account balance with interest and penalties calculated. Your actual refund should be much higher, especially if you claimed EIC like the original poster did $4,095 (EIC shown on their transcript .)The transcript can be confusing because it shows different calculations at different stages. You ll'see your real refund amount when the 846 code appears with the actual refund total. Hope this helps clarify things!

The -$42 shown on your transcript is just your current account balance - it's not your actual refund amount! That number includes interest and penalties calculated up to the date shown. Your real refund amount would be shown with an 846 code when it gets issued. To see your expected refund, look for codes like 768 (Earned Income Credit) which shows -$4,095 in the original post - that's probably closer to the actual refund amount. The transcript can be confusing because it shows running balances, not final amounts.

The -$42 on your transcript is just the current account balance - it's not your actual refund amount! Your real refund would be calculated from your tax return (like if you had withholdings, credits, etc.). That negative balance could be from interest accrued or other adjustments. To get the full picture of what you'll actually receive, you'd need to look at all the credit codes (like 806 for withholdings, 768 for EIC) and subtract any tax owed. The transcript can be confusing to read on your own - might be worth checking out one of those AI transcript analyzers people mentioned above to get a clearer breakdown of your expected refund amount.

The -$42 shown on your transcript is actually a credit balance, meaning the IRS owes you money! But that's not necessarily your full refund amount - it's just what's showing at that snapshot in time. Your actual refund could be much larger depending on your withholdings, credits, and any adjustments they made. The transcript shows pieces of the puzzle, but to get the complete picture of your exact refund amount and timing, you'd need to look at all the codes together. That's why tools like taxr.ai that @Astrid mentioned are so helpful - they calculate your actual expected refund by analyzing all the transcript data together instead of trying to piece it together manually.

The -$42 is likely just your account balance showing interest/penalties, not your actual refund amount! Your real refund would be much larger based on that $4,095 EIC credit showing. The transcript can be confusing but that negative balance usually just represents fees/interest calculations. Your actual refund amount should be visible in the 768 code line item (-$4,095.00) minus any taxes owed. Hope that helps clarify things! 🤞

@Zainab Ahmed The -$42 is just showing your current account balance, but it s'not your actual refund amount! Looking at the original post, they show a 768 code for -$4,095.00 which is the Earned Income Credit. That negative amount means it s'a credit TO you. The -$42 is probably just accrued interest or a small calculation difference. Your actual refund should be much larger - likely close to that $4,095 EIC amount plus any withholdings from the 806 code. The transcript can be confusing but those negative amounts in the credit sections are good news! 💰

The -$42 balance on your transcript isn't your full refund amount - it's actually showing a credit balance which means the IRS owes you money. When you see a negative balance like that, it typically represents overpaid taxes or credits that exceed your tax liability. Your actual refund amount would include your EIC and any other credits you claimed. The transcript can be confusing because it shows running balances and adjustments rather than your final refund total. You'd need to look at all the credit entries (like your 768 code for EIC) to calculate your expected refund amount!
