Tax preparer misspelled names & address on return - Will IRS audit me?
Just got my taxes done professionally for the first time and when I got home I noticed the preparer spelled my name wrong, my address wrong, and my dependents names wrong. Called them and they brushed me off saying IRS already accepted it. Not sure how that works but will these errors increase my chances of getting audited?

Those errors are concerning and the preparer's response is unprofessional. Name mismatches with Social Security numbers can trigger IRS verification delays. You should file Form 8949 to correct the information ASAP. The preparer should fix this at no cost - it's their mistake.

•Not dramatic at all! Their response is a 🚩 red flag. I'd consider finding a new preparer next year.

Hey, you might want to check out taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and can tell you if these kinds of errors might cause issues. It costs $1 but its saved me so much stress. https://taxr.ai

Your in the same boat as me! My preparer messed up everything and ghosted me. Been waiting 6 months for my refund now because of 'verification' 😤

This is exactly why I always double-check everything before leaving the tax office! Those kinds of errors can definitely cause delays - the IRS computer systems flag mismatches between names and SSNs automatically. You should definitely push back harder on the preparer to fix this. They have a responsibility to correct their mistakes, and "the IRS already accepted it" doesn't mean the errors won't cause problems later. Document everything in case you need to file a complaint with their licensing board.
