I navigated through all automated prompts 3. After completing all steps, I only received automated information 4. I was not given an option to speak with a representative As a non-US citizen dealing with tax matters, I need to speak with an actual person to clarify my specific situation. Does anyone know the correct number or extension to reach a live agent? Or perhaps there is a specific sequence of options I should select when calling the main number? I would appreciate detailed guidance on this matter.

I've called the IRS countless times over the years, and there's definitely a trick to it. When you call 1-800-829-1040, you need to navigate the menu very specifically. I always do this: 1. Select your language preference 2. Press 2 for "questions about your personal income tax" 3. Press 1 for "questions about a form you filed or a payment" 4. Press 3 for "all other questions" 5. Press 2 for "all other questions" When it asks for your SSN, DON'T enter anything. After it asks a second time and you don't respond, it will route you to an agent. This has worked for me consistently, though wait times can be 30+ minutes during busy season.

OMG the IRS phone system is a total nightmare rn. Been trying to reach them for weeks about my transcript codes that make zero sense.
