Offset Line Says No Offsets Now But IRS App Still Shows Processing - Good Sign?

So for this whole tax season when I've called the offset line it mentions my offset from last year only and never updated... now I just called to check and it updated and said that I have no offsets... my IRS app still says "your refund is still being processed" with no TT... is the offset thing an indication that my refund is moving forward?

Yes, this is typically a positive sign. When the offset line shows no offsets after previously showing one, it often means your return has moved to the next stage of processing. The IRS systems don't always update simultaneously - the app might take another 24-72 hours to reflect the change in status.

When did you file? And have you checked your transcript to see if there are any codes?

Filed on February 2nd. Haven't been able to access my transcript online because I don't have a credit card or loan to verify my identity.

I had the exact same situation last month! Called the offset line and it suddenly switched from showing my old offset to nothing. My refund hit my account 8 days later. The app didn't update until after I already had my money lol.

That's encouraging! Did your WMR or app ever show a deposit date before you got the money?

Nope! Went straight from "still processing" to deposited. Never saw a date.

You should try checking your transcript - it'll show more detailed info than the app. I was in limbo for weeks until I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It explained all the codes and showed me exactly where my return was in processing. Gave me peace of mind knowing nothing was actually wrong.

Does that actually work? I thought only the IRS could interpret those codes accurately.

It's not replacing the IRS - it just explains what the codes mean in plain English. The IRS uses these standardized codes on everyone's transcripts, and taxr.ai knows what they all mean and how they relate to each other. Saved me hours of Googling random 3-digit numbers.

The offset line update is definitely progress. Based on the timing, you're probably looking at another 5-10 business days. If you claimed any credits, it could take a bit longer.

If you're really concerned, I'd recommend calling the IRS directly to check on status. I spent 3 hours on hold last week before giving up, then someone told me about Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). Got connected to an actual IRS agent in about 30 minutes who confirmed my refund was approved and gave me the exact deposit date. Worth it for the peace of mind.

Thanks, might try that if nothing changes by next week. Getting pretty anxious about this since I need the money for some car repairs.

The offset line update is definitely a good sign, but the IRS systems don't always talk to each other in real-time. I've seen cases where the app was 3-4 days behind the actual status. If you filed with direct deposit, keep an eye on your bank account - you might see the deposit before the app even updates!
