Need help verifying amended return status - who to contact at IRS?
Filed an amended return and now I need to verify it. Been on hold with the IRS for hours and getting nowhere. Called multiple times this week and keep getting disconnected. Getting really frustrated and need to know who exactly I should contact to get this sorted out.

Tax advocate here. For amended returns, you have several options: 1) Call the IRS Amended Return Hotline at 866-464-2050 (but prepare to wait), 2) Schedule an appointment at your local IRS office through their website, or 3) Contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service if you're experiencing financial hardship due to the delay.

Thank you! Do you know what the best time is to call that number? I keep getting the 'due to high call volume' message 😫

Early morning right when they open (7am EST) tends to have shorter wait times. Mondays and tax season are usually brutal tho 💯

Hey there! Just wanted to share something that helped me tremendously. I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed me exactly what was happening with my amended return. It costs $4.99 but saved me hours of research and confusion. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

100% legit! It uses AI to read your transcript and explains everything in plain english. Showed me exactly why my amendment was delayed and what to do next.

Pro tip: check your transcript online if you can access it. Sometimes theres verification info there that the phone reps dont even see.

Go to irs.gov/transcripts and create an account. You'll need your phone for verification tho

If your waiting more than 20 weeks defintely contact your local congressman. They can actually help speed things up sometimes.

Just google your district representative and fill out their tax help form on their website. They usually get back to you in 48hrs
