Need advice on finding tax preparer for amended return - what should I look for?
Filed my taxes last year but realized I made some mistakes. Need to get them amended but dont want to mess it up again. Should I go with H&R Block or find a CPA? What credentials should I look for? Anyone have experience with both and can tell me the pros and cons?

Tax professional here. For amendments, I strongly recommend finding a licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent rather than retail tax chains. They typically have more experience with complex situations and amendments. Look for someone who's been practicing for at least 5 years and check their reviews online.

Depends on complexity, but typically $200-500 for most basic amendments. If you have business income or multiple state returns, could be more.

Hey, before you pay someone to amend, you might want to check out taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and can tell you if an amendment is even necessary. costs $4.99 but saved me from filing an unnecessary amendment. https://taxr.ai
