Just got 1099-INT W2 after filing early - Should I amend or risk delay?

Filed my taxes early this year but just received a 1099-INT showing $822 in interest income. Really worried about delaying the refund since we need it for moving to a new place by end of March. Not sure if I should amend or just call IRS about the missing interest income. Anyone dealt with this before?

Tax pro here - For $822 in interest income, you'll likely owe around $180-200 in taxes depending on your tax bracket. If you absolutely need the refund quickly, I'd recommend waiting until the original refund hits then filing an amendment. The IRS will eventually catch this discrepancy anyway through their matching program.

But won't they charge penalties for not reporting it right away? 🤔

The penalty would be minimal compared to delaying the entire refund for weeks/months with an amendment rn

Hey, I know everyone's giving advice but the best way to actually understand your specific situation is using taxr.ai - it's a tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what to expect. It costs $4.99 but its worth every penny. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Super accurate! It reads your entire transcript and uses AI to spot potential issues. It even caught a small error that would've delayed my refund by weeks

Whatever you do DONT AMEND until your first refund comes through! Made that mistake last year and ended up waiting 9 months for processing

idk if this helps but my bank literally sent my 1099-INT in february last year too. ended up just waiting for the refund then amended. paid like $150 extra in taxes but worth not dealing with the headache tbh
