IRS Verification Delay: No Response After Weeks. What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with the IRS. I'm supposed to get my verification done but I haven't heard anything back from them. It's been a while and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take for you to hear back? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting for MONTHS to hear back about my verification. It's like they've forgotten about us or something. Have you tried calling them? That's what I did, but be prepared to wait on hold for hours.

Calling is useless. I tried that and was on hold for 3 hours before giving up. There has to be a better way!

I actually got through once after waiting for 2 hours, but then they transferred me and I got disconnected. š¤¬ Never again!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do you have to download anything?

Nah, no downloads. You just go to their website, choose the IRS line you need, pay, and they start calling. When they get a human, your phone rings. Simple as that.

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to know about IRS verification: ā¢ First, check if you've received any specific notices or letters. These often have deadlines you NEED to meet. ā¢ If you haven't received anything, but it's been more than 21 days since you filed, it's time to take action. ā¢ Try using the 'Where's My Refund?' tool on the IRS website. It might give you some info. ā¢ If that doesn't help, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. Be prepared to wait. ā¢ Have all your docs ready when you call: Social Security number, filing status, and exact refund amount. ā¢ If you still can't get through, consider contacting the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can help if you're facing financial hardship. ā¢ Last resort: contact your local congressperson's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Remember, patience is key. The IRS is dealing with millions of returns. Hang in there!

Wait, congresspeople can help with this? How does that even work?

Yep! They have staff dedicated to helping constituents with federal agencies. They can often cut through red tape faster than we can.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get our own money back? The system is broken af š¤®

Ikr? In other countries, the govt just sends you a bill or a refund. No filing needed. We're living in the stone age

Hey OP, have you checked your transcript online? Sometimes that can give you more info than the Where's My Refund tool.

I'm in the same boat. Been waiting 3 months now. Starting to wonder if my return got lost in the void or something š

Pro tip: if you do manage to get through on the phone, be super nice to the agent. They deal with angry people all day and being kind can sometimes get you better results.
