Understanding IRS Transcript for Head of Household with $16,868 AGI: Processing Date March 3rd vs April Refund Dates
I just pulled my 2024 transcript and I'm confused about all these different dates. Looking at my transcript from today (02-16-2025), I see several dates that I don't understand. Here's what my account transcript shows: Request Date: 02-16-2025 Response Date: 02-16-2025 Page 1 of 2 FORM NUMBER: 1040 TAX PERIOD: Dec. 31, 2024 There's a note showing "POWER OF ATTORNEY/TAX INFORMATION AUTHORIZATION (POA/TIA) ON FILE" at the top of my transcript. My account balance shows $0.00 with no accrued interest or penalties as of Mar. 04, 2025. The return due date shows as Apr. 17, 2025. The information from my return shows: - FILING STATUS: Head of Household - EXEMPTIONS: 04 - ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $17,968.00 - TAXABLE INCOME: $0.00 - TAX PER RETURN: $0.00 - SE TAXABLE INCOME TAXPAYER: $0.00 - SE TAXABLE INCOME SPOUSE: $0.00 - TOTAL SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX: $0.00 The PROCESSING DATE shows as Mar. 04, 2025 Then there are these transactions: CODE | EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION | CYCLE DATE | DATE | AMOUNT 150 | Tax return filed | 20250705 | 03-04-2025 | $0.00 76211-423-30421-5 806 | W-2 or 1099 withholding | | 04-16-2025 | -$1,800.00 960 | Appointed representative | | 06-11-2024 | 766 | Credit to your account | | 04-16-2025 | -$2,500.00 768 | Earned income credit | | 04-17-2025 | -$7,300.00 Can someone explain what all these different dates mean, especially the processing date of March 4th 2025 and the cycle date 20250705? How do these dates relate to when I might get my refund? I'm particularly confused about why some dates are in April 2025 when my processing date is in March. Also, what does the "Appointed representative" from June 2024 refer to? I don't remember appointing anyone. I also notice there's a line that says "ANY MINUS SIGN SHOWN BELOW SIGNIFIES A CREDIT AMOUNT" - does this mean the negative amounts for codes 806, 766, and 768 are credits I'm receiving?

The transcript reveals several key details about your 2024 tax return status. Your return was processed on March 3rd, 2025, with a cycle date of 20250705 - this cycle number indicates which processing batch your return was assigned to, with '2025' representing the year and '07' showing the week number. Your financial details show an Adjusted Gross Income of $16,868.00 with $0.00 taxable income, filing as Head of Household with 4 exemptions. The transaction codes tell an important story: Code 150 confirms your return was filed and processed, while codes 766 and 768 indicate you're receiving both a general credit and the Earned Income Credit, scheduled to post on April 15th, 2025. There's also evidence of a power of attorney/tax representative appointment (code 960) from June 10th, 2024. Your withholding credits (code 806) are scheduled to apply on April 15th, 2025, which is also your return due date. Your account shows a $0.00 balance with no penalties or interest as of March 3rd, 2025. The April 15th dates you're seeing for various credits are standard posting dates for the tax year, but don't affect when you'll receive your refund - that typically occurs shortly after the March 3rd processing date.

Most likely! Keep an eye on WMR tool, it should update within 24-48 hrs after that processing date.

Hey guys instead of trying to decode these transcripts like we're solving a puzzle, I've been using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. For $1 it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Way better than trying to guess what all these codes mean https://taxr.ai

The most important date to look at is that processing date. That's usually when everything is finalized.
