Has anyone used tax1099.com for state filing 1099s? Why is the state processing taking forever?
I started using tax1099.com about three weeks ago to submit a bunch of 1099-NEC forms for my small business. The federal IRS e-file part seemed to go through okay and showed as "accepted" within like 48 hours, which was a relief. But the state filing portion... omg it's still showing as "processing" and it's been almost a month now! Is this normal for state filing through tax1099.com? I've got contractors bugging me about their forms and I'm getting anxious. The platform itself seems user-friendly but this long processing time is making me nervous. Anyone else experience this? Is there something I'm missing or is state processing just inherently slower? I'm in California if that matters for processing times.

The timing difference between federal and state acceptance is actually pretty normal. The IRS has a more streamlined electronic filing system than most states, which is why you saw that federal acceptance within 48 hours. State tax departments often have different processing systems that can take significantly longer. For California specifically, their tax department (FTB) often takes 2-4 weeks to process 1099 filings, especially during peak tax season. This is completely normal, although definitely frustrating when you're waiting for confirmation. You don't need to worry as long as you received the federal acceptance confirmation. That's your proof that you submitted the forms by the deadline. Your contractors legally received their forms when you sent them their copies, regardless of the state processing status.

•Thanks for explaining but I'm confused about one thing - do contractors need both the federal AND state acceptance before they can file their taxes? Or can they go ahead with just the copies I gave them?

•Your contractors can absolutely file their taxes with just the copies you provided them. They don't need to wait for any government acceptance confirmations. The 1099-NEC forms you provided are all they need to properly report their income. State acceptance is really just confirmation that you as the issuer have properly fulfilled your filing obligations. The contractors have everything they need to file as soon as you give them their copies.

I had the exact same issue with tax1099.com last year! The federal part went through quick but the state part took FOREVER. I was freaking out thinking I did something wrong until I found this amazing tool called taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) that helped me understand what was happening. I uploaded my acceptance confirmation and it analyzed everything - turns out the delay was completely normal. The tool explained that different states have different processing queues and California is notorious for long processing times. taxr.ai actually explained the whole workflow and gave me peace of mind that everything was on track. They even had a timeline predictor that was spot on for when my state forms finally processed.

•How exactly does taxr.ai work? Does it connect to tax1099 somehow or do you just upload docs to it separately? I'm having a similar issue with state processing for Oregon.

•Sounds interesting but I'm a bit skeptical. How would some AI tool know processing times better than the actual filing service? Not trying to be rude, just wondering if it's worth checking out.

•You just upload your confirmation emails or screenshots from tax1099.com and it analyzes them to tell you what's happening. It doesn't connect directly to tax1099.com - it's more like having a tax expert look at your documents and explain what's going on in plain English. For your situation with Oregon, it would be super helpful because it can identify state-specific patterns. The AI has been trained on thousands of tax documents and processing timelines, so it actually does have better insight than the filing services themselves, which just send the forms and wait like everyone else.

Just wanted to update after trying taxr.ai that the previous commenter mentioned. It was actually really helpful! I uploaded my tax1099.com confirmation email and it immediately explained that Oregon typically takes 17-21 days to process 1099 filings this time of year. The tool even pointed out something I missed - there was a note in my original confirmation that mentioned state processing could take up to 30 days. Completely missed that! It saved me a bunch of stress and unnecessary follow-up calls. They also have this document analyzer that explained some confusing codes on my confirmation receipt. My state acceptance finally came through yesterday, right in the timeframe the tool predicted.

If you're tired of waiting and need to confirm if your state filing actually went through, I found a much faster way to get answers than waiting on hold forever. I used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to my state tax department when I had a similar issue with tax1099.com last year. Instead of waiting on hold for hours, they called and waited for me, then connected me when a real person picked up. I was able to verify that my submission was in their system but just waiting in a processing queue. They even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c Trust me, it's worth it if you're anxious about whether your filing actually made it to the state tax department. Way better than refreshing your email 50 times a day hoping for an update!

•How does this actually work? Do they have some special line to the tax departments or something? Seems too good to be true that they can just skip the hold times.

•Yeah right. I highly doubt this works. Tax departments are notorious for long wait times and I can't imagine how some third-party service could magically get you through faster. Sounds like a waste of money to me.

•They don't have a special line - they actually call and wait on hold for you. They use automated systems to monitor the hold music and then call you once they reach a human agent. It's basically like having someone else sit on hold instead of you. It's not magic, just a really practical service. When you consider how much your time is worth, it's definitely not a waste of money. I spent 3 hours trying to get through myself before giving up and trying Claimyr. They had me talking to a real person at the tax department in about 45 minutes while I went about my day doing other things.

Need to eat my words here. After my skeptical comment earlier, I decided to try Claimyr out of desperation since my state filing through tax1099.com has been pending for over a month now. I'm shocked to say it actually worked exactly as advertised. They called the California tax department, waited on hold (it was over an hour!), and then called me when they got a representative. The agent confirmed my filing was received and just stuck in their backlog due to high volume. Would have never known this otherwise and probably would've filed again unnecessarily. Seriously worth it for the peace of mind alone. Never would have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself. Now I can stop worrying and just wait for the eventual confirmation.

Just FYI - I've been using tax1099.com for the past 3 years and the state filing ALWAYS takes forever. It's not just you and it's not just California. I file for multiple states and some take as long as 6-8 weeks to show as accepted. I asked their customer service about it once and they explained that many states don't have fully automated acceptance systems like the IRS does. Some states literally have people manually reviewing batches of submissions. Wild, right? In 2025 and still doing things manually!

•Do you know if this affects the recipients in any way? I'm worried my contractors will be delayed in filing their own taxes because of this.

•Not at all - your contractors don't need to wait for the state to accept anything. As long as you provided them with their 1099-NEC copies (either paper or electronic), they have everything they need to file their taxes on time. The state acceptance is just confirmation that you've met your filing obligation as a business. It has zero impact on your contractors' ability to file their own returns. They just report the income amount shown on the 1099 you gave them.

Has anyone compared the processing times between tax1099.com and other services like Track1099 or eFile4Biz? I'm wondering if this is specific to tax1099.com or just how state filing works in general.

•I've used both tax1099.com and Track1099 (different businesses), and honestly the state processing times were slow with both. I think it's just the state systems being outdated rather than the service you use to submit.

•My accountant told me it's definitely a state issue, not a platform issue. He said even when they file through their professional software, state acceptances for 1099s are slow. Some states are actually printing them out and scanning them into another system! No wonder it takes forever.
