Got IRS Identity Verification Notice 6330C - What to expect? Tips?
Hey everyone, I just got this IRS Identity Verification Notice 6330C in the mail and I'm kinda freaking out. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I expect when I call them? Any tips on how to handle this?

Ugh, I got one of those last year. It's a pain but don't worry too much. They just want to make sure you are who you say you are. Have all your personal info ready when you call - SSN, past tax returns, etc. It took me about 30 minutes on the phone with them.

Thanks for the info! Did they ask you any weird questions? I'm worried I might not remember everything 😅

They asked me stuff like previous addresses, employers from a few years back, and some details from old tax returns. Nothing too crazy, but def have that info handy!

30 minutes?! You got lucky. I was on hold for like 2 hours before I even talked to anyone 🙄

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of waiting on hold. Worth every penny imo.

Listen up, cause I'm bout to drop some knowledge 💯 I've been through this rodeo before, so here's the deal with the IRS Identity Verification Notice 6330C: • First off, don't panic. This is pretty common and doesn't mean you're in trouble. • You'll need to call the number on the notice. Be prepared to wait. • Have these docs ready: - The notice itself - Your Social Security card - Last year's tax return - This year's tax return (if you filed) - A credit card or other account number to verify your identity • They'll ask you a bunch of questions to verify your identity. Some might be tricky, like old addresses or employer info. • If you can't verify over the phone, you might need to schedule an in-person appointment. • Once verified, it can take up to 9 weeks for them to process your return. Pro tip: Call early in the morning or right before they close for shorter wait times. And for the love of all that is holy, BE PATIENT with the IRS folks. They're just doing their job. Good luck, OP! You got this 💪

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that WE have to prove our identity to THEM? Like, yall sent this to my address that you clearly have on file 🙄

It's to prevent identity theft and tax fraud. Better safe than sorry, I guess?

Quick question - does anyone know if this will delay my refund? I'm kinda counting on that money...

I swear the IRS just makes up these notices to make our lives miserable. Why can't they just leave us alone? 😤

Chill out, it's just a verification. Better than having someone steal your identity and mess up your taxes.
