Finally got through to the IRS! Any recent experiences or tips?
Hey everyone, just wanted to share that I finally got through to the IRS! It took forever, but I'm so relieved. Has anyone else had any luck recently? What were your experiences like?

Congrats on getting through! I've been trying for weeks with no luck. What time of day did you call? Any tips?

Thanks! I called early in the morning, around 7:30 AM. Seemed to be less busy then. Also, make sure you have all your docs ready before you call. Good luck!

Early morning is def the way to go. I've had luck calling right when they open too. Less wait time for sure.

Ugh, I'm so jealous. I've been trying to reach them for months about my refund. It's like talking to a brick wall. š¤

Same boat here. Its so frustrating. Have you tried using the 'Where's My Refund' tool on their website?

Yeah, I've checked that tool like a million times. Always says the same thing - 'still processing'. I just want to talk to a human! š«

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Sounds interesting, but $20? Is it really worth it? How long did you have to wait?

For me, it was totally worth it. I'd wasted hours trying to get through on my own. With this, I got a call back in about 2 hours. Saved me so much time and frustration.

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They have reviews on Trustpilot if you want to check. It's not a magic solution, but it does what it says - gets you through to an agent without you having to wait on hold.

Pro tip: If you're calling about a specific form or issue, make sure you're calling the right department. I wasted so much time before I realized I was in the wrong queue. š¤¦āāļø

Anyone else feel like the IRS needs a complete overhaul? It's 2023, why is it still so hard to get basic help? š¤

Preach! š The whole system is so outdated. They need to invest in better technology and hire more staff.

True, but remember they've been dealing with budget cuts for years. Can't expect miracles when they're underfunded.

Here's a detailed breakdown of how I finally got through to the IRS and resolved my issue: ā¢ Timing is key: Call early in the morning, preferably right when they open. ā¢ Be prepared: Have all your documents ready, including past tax returns, W-2s, and any correspondence from the IRS. ā¢ Use the right number: Make sure you're calling the correct department for your specific issue. ā¢ Be patient but persistent: If you don't get through, try again the next day. ā¢ Consider using a call-back service: As mentioned by others, there are services that can wait on hold for you. ā¢ When you do get through, be polite but firm. The person on the other end is probably dealing with a lot of frustrated people. ā¢ Take notes during your call, including the name of the person you spoke with and any case numbers or reference numbers they give you. ā¢ Follow up: If they promise to send you something or take an action, make a note to follow up if you don't hear back within the timeframe they specify. Hope this helps someone else navigate the IRS maze!

Great advice! I'd add one more thing: if you're not getting anywhere with the first person you talk to, politely ask to speak with a supervisor. Sometimes they have more authority to resolve issues.
