Early Tax Refund Advance from Jackson Hewitt - Can I file with TurboTax?

I got the refund advance from Jackson Hewitt during christmas season and now I wanna file my taxes through TurboTax. Will it automatically pay back the advance loan? Anyone know if this might delay my refund?

Tax pro here - DO NOT file with TurboTax if you got an advance from Jackson Hewitt. You need to file through JH because the loan repayment is tied to their system. Filing elsewhere could cause major headaches with the loan repayment and potentially delay your refund.

Instead of stressing about filing options, you should check out taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on with your refund situation. Its only $4.99 and totally worth it https://taxr.ai

The advance is basically a contract. Your required to file with them to get the loan paid back properly. Its in the fine print noone reads lol

ugh shoulda known there was a catch 🤮

Yeah unfortunately that's how these refund advance loans work - they create a binding agreement that ties you to their filing service. The advance is essentially a short-term loan against your expected refund, and Jackson Hewitt needs to be the one processing your return to ensure the loan gets repaid directly from your refund. If you file elsewhere, you'd have to manually repay the advance which defeats the whole purpose. Lesson learned for next year - if you want flexibility in choosing your tax prep service, skip the advance and just wait for your actual refund!
