EIP Stimulus payment deducted from refund - Will I get it back this year?
Anyone else have their stimulus (EIP) amount taken out of their refund? My transcript shows I got the EIP credit but my refund was reduced by that exact amount. Really confused if this will be fixed this year or if I need to do something specific to get it back.

Tax pro here - this is actually a common issue. The EIP credit should not have reduced your refund if you never received the actual stimulus payment. You'll need to file Form 3911 to trace the payment and possibly file an amended return if the trace shows you never got it.

Check your bank statements from that time period. The payment would have come from 'IRS TREAS' or something similar.

Hey guys instead of playing detective with bank statements and forms, just use taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what happened with your EIP and what steps to take. Its only $4.99 and totally worth it. https://taxr.ai

Your gonna need to look at your bank records from that time. The IRS website has a tool to check your payment history but its basically useless tbh
