Direct Deposit Date 3/6 - Anyone Else Still Waiting for Funds?

Has anyone else received a DDD of 3/6 on their transcript but still hasn't seen the funds hit their account yet? I've verified my banking info is correct on the return and my transcript clearly shows cycle code 20240905 with 846 refund issued date of 3/6/2024. This is day 2 of waiting and I'm getting concerned since I need this for my quarterly estimated payments. Anyone in the same boat or know what's happening with the 3/6 batch?

According to the IRS Direct Deposit guidelines (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/direct-deposit-limits), there can be a 1-5 business day delay between the official DDD and when funds actually appear in your account. I'm seeing similar reports on the IRS2Go app forums. Have you checked if your bank typically holds IRS deposits for processing? Some financial institutions have a standard hold period for government deposits.

Does the delay vary depending on whether you used fees taken out of your refund? I've heard that can cause additional processing time through the tax preparer's bank before it reaches your account?

Thx for this info! My DDD is also 3/6 and nothing yet. Do you know if WMR still shows "approved" or should it change to "sent" when the $ actually moves? Mine's still on approved.

Not to make light of everyone's anxiety (trust me, I get it!), but this happens every year like clockwork. The IRS gives a date, people panic when it doesn't arrive at 12:01am, then most deposits hit within 48 hours. My credit union consistently posts them at 3am on DDD+1 business day.

I'm in the same boat! My DDD is 3/6 too. I called my bank this morning and they said they don't see any pending deposits. The customer service rep told me they usually see IRS deposits early in the morning and post them same day. I'm really nervous because this is my first time e-filing.

Did you file with a tax preparer who takes their fees out of your refund? I've seen this happen before where the DDD is accurate but the SBTPG or other intermediary bank holds it for processing before sending to your actual bank.

The March 6th batch should be hitting accounts between March 6-8. Last year my January 24th DDD didn't post until January 26th, even though the transcript showed the earlier date. The IRS considers their job done once they send it, but banking systems have their own processing times.

Did you check if your bank shows pending deposits? Some banks don't show government deposits until they actually post. My credit union was like that - nothing showing then suddenly full amount appeared.

I'm FREAKING OUT waiting for my 3/6 deposit too! I've been calling the IRS non-stop trying to figure out what's happening but can't get through - just endless hold music then disconnects! Finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) yesterday and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed my refund was actually sent on 3/6 and should be in my account within 48 hours. They said there's a huge batch of 3/6 deposits and some banks process them in waves. NEED THIS MONEY ASAP for rent but at least I know it's coming!

There's actually an interesting pattern with the March deposits this year. Have you noticed how the 3/6 batch seems particularly delayed compared to earlier DDDs? I've been tracking several tax forums and it looks like many 3/6 recipients are experiencing 1-2 day delays. Could this be related to the system upgrades the IRS implemented last month? Or perhaps the volume of returns processed in late February created a bottleneck in the disbursement system?

IRS Payment Systems Analyst here. The 3/6 DDD batch is experiencing a known processing delay due to ACH network congestion. The Treasury Financial Agent (TFA) initiates the ACH transaction on the DDD, but Automated Clearing House processing requires 24-48 hours for settlement. Additionally, if your financial institution has a policy of posting electronic deposits only during specific processing windows, this can add up to 24 additional hours. For 3/6 DDDs, most taxpayers should see deposits by EOD 3/8, with outliers potentially extending to 3/11 for certain financial institutions or if there's a SBTPG/refund transfer product involved.

Same issue here. DDD 3/6. Nothing yet. Used TurboTax. Had fees taken out. Called SBTPG. They said refund received yesterday. Processing now. Should hit my account tomorrow. Bank shows nothing pending. Happens every year. Still stressful.

According to IRS Publication 2043, the Direct Deposit date is considered the date the IRS releases the payment, not necessarily when it will appear in your account. If your financial institution doesn't receive ACH transfers on weekends, and if there are intermediary banks involved (as with refund transfers), you may want to check your tax transcript for TC 846 with a positive amount to confirm the refund was actually issued. Another option is to use the "Where's My Refund" tool which should update to "Refund Sent" status once the money has been released.
