Dependent Status Question: Can parent claim me and my kids if I had no income?
Need help figuring out my tax situation. I didn't have any income in 2024 and lived with my dad who supported me and my two kids financially. Can he claim all of us as dependents on his taxes? Want to make sure we do this right and get the max refund possible.

This depends on several factors. Your dad can claim you as a dependent if you're under 19 or a student under 24, OR if your gross income was less than $4,700. For your kids, if they lived with him for more than half the year and he provided more than half their support, he might be able to claim them. But there's also the qualifying child vs qualifying relative tests to consider.

Im 26 and yeah he paid for everything - rent utilities food etc. The kids are 3 and 5

In that case, you could be claimed as a qualifying relative since you had no income and he provided all support. The kids could also likely be claimed by him.

receipts for everything he paid for, proof you lived there (mail etc), medical bills, basically anything showing he supported yall
