Can spouses file MFJ on TurboTax using separate accounts without issues?
Need to know if my spouse and I can file jointly through TurboTax but using different accounts. We'd each input our own W2s separately but select married filing jointly. Want to avoid any red flags with the IRS. Anyone done this before?

This would definitely cause problems with your return. When filing MFJ, you need to report all income on a single return. Filing separately with the same status would create duplicate returns and trigger automatic flags. Use one TurboTax account and input both W2s together to avoid delays and potential audits.

Tax preparer here: PLEASE dont do this! It will 100% cause problems with the IRS. They'll think youre trying to file twice and freeze everything.
