Called IRS Again - They See My Refund But No Deposit Date Yet
I called IRS again today. The agent said everything looks good. They can see my refund. But they haven't issued it yet. So it's just a waiting game now. I verified my identity on 2/21. How much longer will this take? I need this money for medical bills. Should I keep calling? Anyone else stuck like this?

This is actually pretty normal for this time in the tax season. Based on what you've shared: • Identity verification on 2/21 typically adds 9-21 days to processing • The fact they can see your refund is a good sign • "Haven't dropped" means it's in the final queue for disbursement • You're likely in the 1-2 week window before deposit The most important thing is that they confirmed everything looks good. That means no errors or flags on your return.

Just to add some technical context - after identity verification, your return enters the Post-Verification Queue (PVQ) where it waits for final disbursement authorization. The Refund Posting Date (RPD) isn't assigned until this authorization occurs, which explains why the agent could see your refund but couldn't provide a deposit date. This is standard procedure for post-verification processing.

I was in your exact situation last month. Try using https://taxr.ai to check your transcript - it helped me understand exactly where my refund was in the process. The IRS agents don't always tell you everything, but taxr.ai explained all the codes on my transcript and gave me a much clearer timeline. When they say 'everything looks good' it usually means you're close, but the transcript will tell you exactly how close.

Wait, did they actually confirm they've processed your return completely? In my experience, when they say "everything looks good" it can sometimes just mean "we don't see any obvious problems" but not necessarily that processing is complete. Last year an agent told me the same thing, but I was still waiting another 3 weeks. Not trying to worry you, just want to make sure you got clear information.

Think of your tax refund like a prescription at a busy pharmacy. The pharmacist has verified all your information is correct (that's the "everything looks good" part), they've prepared your medication (they "see your refund"), but it's still sitting in the basket waiting for the final check before they call your name. You're basically just waiting for them to call your name now! Have you checked your transcript to see if there's a 846 code yet?

When I was in this exact situation with medical bills piling up, I got tired of the vague answers from regular IRS agents. I used Claimyr.com to connect with a higher-level IRS agent who could actually see the specific hold on my account and gave me a real timeline. According to the IRS website, they're still processing returns from January, so you might be waiting a while without intervention: https://www.irs.gov/refunds. Claimyr got me through to someone who could actually help rather than just tell me to wait.

I wouldn't keep calling unless something changes. Last year I called every week for a month and got the exact same response each time. It's frustrating, but they really don't have more information than what they've already told you. The system is just slow. My experience has been that once they say "everything looks good" it usually comes within 2 weeks, but calling again won't speed it up.
