Stuck on 'Pending' for 6 weeks - can EDD Assembly rep help?
I'm at my breaking point with this pending claim. Filed on March 12, 2025 and it's been PENDING for 6 weeks with no movement. Called EDD literally 40+ times, always get the 'too many callers' message or disconnected. Certified correctly every two weeks but $0 payments. My rent is due next week and I'm completely out of savings. Someone at work mentioned contacting my Assembly representative might help? Has anyone done this? How do I even figure out who my Assembly rep is or what to say to them? Do they actually have power to help with EDD claims or is this just another dead end? Any experience or advice appreciated!

YES!!!! Assembly rep is the ONLY thing that worked for me!!!! I was stuck in pending for EIGHT weeks and nothing I did worked until I contacted my Assembly person. I found mine by going to findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov and entering my address. They have a form specifically for EDD issues on their website. My rep's office called me back in 2 days and my claim was fixed in like 4 days after that. They have special contacts at EDD that actually answer the phone lol

•OMG thank you!! Just found my rep and they DO have an EDD assistance form. Filling it out right now. Did they need anything specific from you? My claim # and last 4 of SSN? Also how detailed should I get about my situation?

Assembly reps can definitely help with EDD issues. I was in a similar situation last year - stuck in pending hell for 5 weeks. My assembly person's office has staff specifically assigned to help constituents with state agency problems. They have direct channels to EDD that we don't have access to. Before contacting them though, have you checked your UI Online account for any notifications or messages that might explain the pending status? Sometimes there are action items that aren't obvious.

•I've checked UI Online obsessively. No messages, no alerts, no action items. The only thing slightly unusual is that I worked for two different employers in my base period, but I listed both correctly on my application. The certification process goes fine every two weeks, just no money ever comes through.

Another option before going to an Assembly rep is using Claimyr. It's a service that gets you through to an actual EDD rep on the phone - basically calls for you and then connects you when someone answers. I was skeptical but it worked for me when I was stuck pending for weeks. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Sometimes getting to the right EDD agent can solve everything in one call.

•Thanks for the suggestion. Might try this if the Assembly rep route doesn't work out. At this point I'll try anything to get this resolved!

I work for a community assistance program that helps people with EDD issues. Here's the proper process for contacting your Assembly rep for EDD help: 1. Find your rep at findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov 2. Look for their official .gov website (not campaign site) 3. Most have an EDD assistance form or general casework form 4. Be SPECIFIC about your issue (dates, claim numbers, etc) 5. Include what steps you've already taken to resolve it 6. Provide a phone number where they can reach you during business hours 7. Be patient - they usually respond within 3-5 business days One important note - Assembly reps can often help with claims stuck in processing, identity verification issues, or communication problems. They typically CAN'T help with eligibility determinations or appeals. Those require the formal appeal process.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! Just to clarify - I haven't been disqualified or denied. There's been no determination at all, just stuck in pending. So it sounds like this is exactly the kind of situation they might be able to help with?

•Yes, that's exactly the type of situation where Assembly rep assistance can be most effective. Long-pending claims with no apparent reason are often resolved quickly once the rep's office inquires. They essentially flag your claim for priority review by a special unit at EDD. Make sure to mention the hardship the delay is causing (potential eviction, bills in collections, etc) as this can sometimes expedite things further.

my claim was stuck 4 months!!! contacted my assembly person and magically fixed in 2 days. they have some kind of special hotline to edd. its crazy how fast they can fix things when regular people cant even get anyone on the phone.

Have you checked if you have a identity verification problem? When I was stuck in pending for weeks it turned out I needed to do the ID.me verification again but the notification got lost somewhere. Go to Profile & Settings in UI Online and see if there's anything about identity verification. That might be why you're stuck.

•I completed ID.me verification when I first filed, and it shows as completed in my account. I even called ID.me customer service and they confirmed my verification was successful and sent to EDD. I honestly can't figure out what's causing the hold up.

dont just call the assembly rep actually go to their office in person if u can!!! thats what i did after waiting 2 weeks with no response to my online form. their staff person took all my info right there & called someone at EDD while i was sitting there. my pending payments switched to paid literally that afternoon!!!

You might also want to check if there's a state senator for your district who could help. Sometimes one office is more responsive than another. My friend had better luck with the senator's office than the assembly member in our district. Worth trying both if the first one doesn't get back to you quickly.

•Great idea, I'll look up my state senator too. Might as well try both and see who responds first. At this point I just need SOMEONE to help me figure out why my claim is stuck!

Just a quick update based on your replies - I'm glad you've found your Assembly rep. When you fill out their form, specifically request an "EDD Intervention" and note that you have "time-sensitive hardship" if your rent is truly at risk. This helps their office prioritize cases. Also, check your EDD account one more time for any "Claim Messages" or "Notifications" as sometimes they can be easy to miss. And finally, make sure you've completed all certifications correctly, as missing or incorrectly completed certifications can cause pending status.

•Just submitted the form to my Assembly rep's office with all the details you suggested! I also double-checked my account and all certifications are complete and correct. Even verified my identity is properly verified. Really hoping this works - will update when I hear something back.

UPDATE: You all were right!! My Assembly rep's office called me this morning (less than 24 hours after submitting the form) and said they'd contact EDD on my behalf. Just checked my UI Online account and all 6 weeks of pending payments switched to PAID about an hour ago! Money should hit my Money Network card in 24-48 hours according to the rep. I'm literally crying with relief right now. THANK YOU to everyone who suggested this route!!

•YESSS!!! So happy for you! Exactly how mine went too - it's like magic when they finally fix it. Make sure to set aside some for taxes if you didn't select withholding!

•That's fantastic news! So glad it worked out. This is a great reminder for anyone else stuck in pending limbo - Assembly reps really do have the power to get things moving. Thanks for coming back to update us.
