Frustrated with EDD: Keep getting connected to unemployment instead of disability. Any tips to reach the right department?
I'm so frustrated with the unemployment department. I've been trying to get in touch with disability for weeks now, but every time I call, I get connected to unemployment instead. It's like they're not even listening to what I'm saying. I've stated multiple times that I need to speak with disability, not unemployment. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you finally get through to the right department? I'm also worried about my payment status - it's been a while since I filed my claim and I haven't heard anything back. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain! š« I went through the same thing last year. It's like they have their wires crossed or something. Have you tried specifically asking for the disability department as soon as you get through to someone?

Yeah, I've tried that. They always say they'll transfer me, but then I end up back in the unemployment queue. It's like a never-ending loop! š

Maybe try calling at different times? I heard early morning works best. Good luck!

The whole system is a joke. I've been dealing with this for months now. It's like they're purposely making it difficult for us to get help. š¤”

Hey, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

I get the skepticism, but after weeks of frustration, it was worth it for me. Got through in less than an hour. š¤·āāļø

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before and I've got some tips that might help: ā¢ First off, document EVERYTHING. Every call, every person you talk to, every piece of info they give you. This will save your butt later. ā¢ When you call, immediately ask for a 'tier 2' representative. They're usually more experienced and can handle complex cases. ā¢ If you keep getting bounced around, ask for a supervisor. Be polite but firm. ā¢ Consider reaching out to your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can cut through the red tape. ā¢ Check your online account regularly for updates. Sometimes they update info there without notifying you. ā¢ If all else fails, file a formal complaint. It might light a fire under someone's butt. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! You've got this! šŖ

Have you tried faxing your request? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it works when everything else fails.

I'm in the same boat. Been trying to get through for weeks. It's like they're playing hot potato with our calls. Anyone know if there's a direct number for the disability department?

Pro tip: if you have a case number or claim ID, make sure to have it ready before you call. Sometimes that can help them route you to the right department faster.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried reaching out on social media? I tweeted at the department's official account and surprisingly got a response. Worth a shot! š¦
